Sorry I Am
Inspired by the song written by Ani DiFranco
For J. S.

i didn't expect this to be cut and dry
but i also didn't think that there
would be this immense outpouring of my heart
blood on the floor

i suppose that things went just fine
if not according to the script i sent
our improvisation filled the spaces in the air
calling for line

i just assumed i would receive something back
without considering the full person, you
didn't mean to place pressure, and investment on the line
on a crap shoot

i guess i always saw you as somehow out of reach
so instead of getting higher, on a level you could see
simply ran as fast as i could, Jesse Quick, impulsively
and left you behind

i tried to accomplish something, fill the hole within my heart
and give you something wrapped up, you could always keep
I'm sorry it came across in the way that it did
the psycho was me

just know how sorry i am, ill leave you go your way
and see you again...
