He admired her. He admitted that freely, at least to himself. Even as she was wheedled him into becoming a large part of her personal security force, he had gone along with the ulterior motive of being honoured with the dtuty of protecting the former Queen of the World. He was amazed that she as still so innocent, given her position and power, but was pleasantly suprised at her humility and naivete that allowed her to keep that innocence.

He understood, just a little, why Heero had never killed her despite his many threats, even as he sympathised with the Japanese pilot reagarding the annoyance that the girl sometimes presented.

He never would know, though, why Heero had chosen Duo over such a beautiful woman as Relena. But he was very grateful, even if he wasn't sure exactly why.
