| I am a disgruntled Catholic and I have been for a very long time. I stopped going to church services several years ago. The reasons are numerous and I have to wonder if I am the only who has had these types of run in's with the church. Many years ago my grandfahter was part of a The Knights of Columbus, a christian mens group. Each year they have a tootsie roll drive to raise money for handicap children. He and several other members of his group were outside a church in an affluent town selling tootsie rolls. The priest went outside to them and told them to get lost. He said he didn't want 'beggars' in front of his church. I wonder if he ever really read the bible and Jesus' teachings? We were attending a very small church in a poor section of the urban city in which I live. Most members of the congregation were older folks. As they died off and left to go to nursing homes there were no new people coming in. The parish literally was dying. The church itself was lovely very small and understated yet it radiated a beauty. It was often cold in the church in the winter. The priest would apologize to us that there was no money to pay for heating expenses. |

| With the opening of Java Joe's Independant Times and forum expect everything to change! What is Java Joe's? It is a place for free and independant thought about everything. There are no men in suits, corporate sponsors with deep pockets and no hidden agenda's to censor what gets into print. It's an online zine/newspaper for the common Joe by the common Joe. The forum is a plce for all to post and discuss any topic whether it is a column here or not. Talk about favorite TV shows, recipes, books, politics you name it feel free to discuss it. |

| Writers: People with ideas. You do not need writing experience. If you have an idea for a column let Java Joe's know. Writers will be needed for politics, entertainment, food, advice, editorials etc. Moderators: Mods will be needed for the forum. While free thought is encourged and censorship unwanted sometimes moderation is needed. Web Gurus: The person behind Java Joe's is admittedly not all that web savy. Help on that front would most definately be appreciated. |
