The mating rites and accompanying mind-games of LA lesbians are uncovered in
this romantic comedy. Lauran Hoffman’s script centres most of the action at
the West Hollywood Girl Bar, where ‘love’ comes easy and often for its
denizens, and where warm flesh can sometimes be only a tequila away.
Director Marita Giovanni refuses to sugar-coat her 90s urban lesbian
characters, and offers a group of diverse and often contradictory characters -
they are seen a calculating, woman-hungry, horny, and at times, vindictive and
petty, but also financially independent, loving, caring and dependable.
The production crew and cast, except for one lone exception, is entirely
female.
This is a "been there, done that, and I feel comfortable with
myself" tale of lesbian love.
