COMMON GROUND
This is a trilogy which
contains three gay stories which play our in Homer, USA over the past fifty
years.
1954 - Dorothy returns home
after being dishonorably discharged from the Navy for sexual misconduct
(lesbianism). It tell of the bigotry facing gay people in small American towns
in the 1950s. Eventually she is forced to leave the town and move to New York.
1974 - A gay school teacher,
up for promotion to principle of the school, is forced to face his concealed
sexual orientation when one of his students comes out and is bullied by straight
thugs.
2000 - A gay wedding is taking
place in Homer with the blessing of the church fathers, and a minority protest
this abomination in their town. Leading the anti-gay league is the father of one
of the grooms.
