This movie is considered by many to be the best ‘mainstream’ fiction film about lesbians, was also one of the first Hollywood films to deal with, in a sensitive manner, a lesbian relationship. It is a romantic story, set in 1959, written by Jane Rule and features strong characterisations and great acting by Patricia Charbonneau and Helen Shaver. A truly landmark film in its positive and very real depiction of a love affair between two attractive and intelligent women.
