THE LIVING END

With its opening close-up of a bumper sticker that reads 'CHOOSE DEATH", one can rest assured that this self-describing, "irresponsible" black comedy about two HIV+ gay men who set out on a lawless road adventure, will not hesitate to cajole, provoke and otherwise incite strong reaction.

Produced on a miniscule budget, the film presents an in-you-face reaction to society's disregard for the plight of HIV+ people. Jon is a whiny, urban film writer and critic, who happens into a relationship with fellow "positive" Luke, a free-spirited and rageful drifter who precipitates their angst-driven journey into anarchy.

It's best to ignore the film's thinly written script, awkward scenes and less-than-professional acting, and concentrate instead on its irresistible "Yeah, I'm HIV+ and I blame society!" message: for despite its faults, it's a really entertaining effort.
