A LIVING WILL

YEAR:  2001

COUNTRY: SOUTH AFRICA

This Carte Blanche programme features a series of interviews over five years with Constitutional Court judge and openly gay Edwin Cameron. The interviews document his life living as a prominent gay South African who has been diagnosed HIV+ since 1985.

In the programme we hear how he almost died of full-blown AIDS in 1997, and after starting a regimen of anti-AIDS drugs, he is today fit and well.

The programme also contains his criticism of the South African government, who through their inaction, apathy and stupidity have the deaths of thousands of AIDS sufferers on their hands, when effective treatment is available.
