Seven-year-old Ludovic has a problem. He wants to be a girl. This causes his family endless problems with the neighbours, as well as within the family unit.

The film is an intelligent examination of how society constructs identities and the problems faced by individuals and families who do not conform to these constructs. It shows just how hard-hearted, cruel and hypocritical humans (and heterosexual society) really are. And the movie isn't even American!
