It does little good to have a web page without having some pictures of oneself there. The fact is that I have scanned few pictures of myself when I was younger but I do have many more recent pictures.
The first picture shows me as a child, living in Ottawa, taken by Karsh. This photo was taken and used in newspapers and magazines to advertise the difference between a well-fed Canadian and the hungry living in war-torn zones after World War II - it looks like me.
The second picture is one taken at my work in 1974. There is nothing unusual about it except it shows a period of time when I was a young father.
The year 2000 will stand out in my mind. My middle son, Mark married Wendy in February and it was the year I moved out in November. The whole family was together in February for the wedding and this is a picture of that event.
Back Row: Julie O. (niece), Trevor (son), Allison (Trevor's wife), Bryan (son) Heather S. (niece), Terese P. (David's friend), David H. (brother-in-law)
Front Row: Phil O. (brother-in-law), Diane O. (sister), Mark (son), Wendy (Mark's bride), self, Lucille (spouse), Mary Lynn (sister).
The next picture was taken of Bob Long and myself at a HOW dinner in Toronto, the last weekend in March 2001. It is the only picture of Bob Long and I that I have. He died in August 2001 but you would not know it by looking at this picture.
In the summer of 2002, I had a job in Minneapolis for a week and then went to visit Trevor and Allison in Chicago - left my car there and flew to Denver to visit Wendy and Mark. While at Denver, I bonded much more with Mark on a day excursion we had which ended with Wendy and Mark driving me to Colorado Springs to Flying W Ranch where we had dinner. Wendy took this picture.
Another picture taken the same day .....
In January a number of us attended a retreat at Krikridge Retreat centre in Pennsylvania. One of the very special people I met there was George, an episcopal pastor (retired) from Virginia.
One of the moments in my life when it changed again was when Alexander and I took an apartment together, mostly to save money but also so we could live in downtown Toronto. Alexander and I take the pictures so we rarely get one of ourselves together, even though we live together and travel together (sometimes separately too. We are not partners but consider ourselves to be BEST FRIENDS in all the meanings of that. This picture was taken by Jack when he visited us in early February, 2003.
In October 2002 and again in February 2003, I visited Key West. This picture is one of many taken in February.
While in Key West, at the Island House resort, there were three of the employees who made our stay particularly delightful. The first is Billy, the second Jaz and they were both servers in the afternoon or evening during happy hour. The third was Tom who was delightful as a host during the morning breakfast hour. Their pictures between Alexander and I are in that order.
A highlight of my life has been the birth of my first grandchild - Joshua Carter Mc... on February 2, 2003 to Trevor and Allison in Chicago. I managed to drive to Chicago to see him the first weekend in March so this picture was taken one day prior to his first month birthday.
some other pictures of Joshua are included here until I start a page devoted exclusively to him.
When I was with some friends on May 11, 2003 this picture was taken of me - it shows my summer look with no moustache and no beard - and before I had my hair done on May 13.
And yet another picture taken in May 2003 was a surprise bouquet of flowers received from an on-line friend. This picture shows Alexnader's cat as she loves to be hugged and to hug.
