HOUSING ASSISTANCE

Community Awareness for Transgender Support opened a small homeless shelter in Galveston for transgenders who would otherwise be homeless in February of 2001.

For far too long our community has been turned away from “mainstream” shelters. We recognize that there is currently no place in Texas who will help transgenders who would otherwise be homeless.

Our program is geared to assist transgenders who are willing to work and/or go to school, receive free emergency housing, psychological assistance, medical assistance and legal assistance.

We will consider bussing you in if you are a homeless transgender who lives outside the Houston/Galveston, TX area IF you have no other recourse. Contact CATS for more information at 281-585-8089.
