Here in living colour are my FAVOURITE products that one require to transform herself from a hideous bushpig to the radiant glamazon you are accustomed to, with a few handy hits thrown in for good measure!
Revlon Eyeshadow - (in Pearly White and Lavendare) The ESSENTIALS! I have tried many other eyeshadows, and nothing beats Revlon for colour, consistency, price and sheer glamour!
Shiseido Waterproof Liquid eyeliner - Its just great! whack your eyelashes on, then draw the liquid eyeliner starting at the inner eyelid, over your lashes to hide where they join to your eyelid ending with a very small flick upwards, Dior style.... more glamour! if you wax out your eyebrows and draw fake ones on, try using this to draw your falsies on... you'll find they wont sweat off, and have sharper definition than a pencil
Minifies loose translucent powder - Ive never got the hang of a pressed powder... I find this powder great, its usually available at stage makeup suppliers, and comes in a couple of shades. I like to pack it on, then pouf my face with my big furry powder puff, dusting the rest off with my powder brush.
Black kohl eyeliner pencil - great for eyebrows, fake eyebrows, beauty spots, and essential for lining your lips. Pull a "cocksucker" face and draw on your lips, then fill in with your desired coloured lipstick. Also adding a lighter colour lipstick ON TOP of the one you have applied, in the inner of your lower lip makes it pout more, or add a little contrasting eyeshadow, or glitter gel
Kryolan FunFaze Glitter Gel - this one you HAVE to splay out for! (Available from Minifies)it retails at about $5 for a tiny tube, but you dont need much of it! the glitter is so tiny its almost unnoticeable close up, but from a distnace gives you the extra "shimmer, glimmer and glow" that will have every mans head in the place turning. To avoid looking like a drag queen has orgasmed all over you DO NOT just rub it all over your face, instead apply sparingly to prominent bones - Cheekbones, Eyebrow bone, elbows and knees. NOT to be used as a lubricant.
Eyelashes - There are many available, different thicknesses, different lengths, and in many other colours than balck so you can co ordinate your lashes with your outfit! Wear whatever you feel like, thought I would personally steer away from the rainbow coloured ones... I haven't seen them look good on anyone!. "BUT I CANT WEAR EYELASHES!!!" you may scream! We'll dahling thats most probably cos youve been doing it all wrong! Before you put them on you need to trim them! Most Most people tend to start the eyelash off right in the inner eye, and wonder why for the whole night, it hurts every time you blink. Go to a Mirror. Look at your own natural eyelashes. You'll see they actually start about 1 cm away from your inner eye!
Step
1: PREPARE LASH
Flex
the base of the lash with your fingers for easier application.
Place lash band on eyelids as close to your natural lashbase as
possible.
The inner corner of the lashes should be placed about 1/3 of the
way in
from the inner corner of your eye. If band should extend beyond
natural
lash line, snip off the excess from the outside corner, a few
hairs at a time.
Trim length of lashes, if desired, following original pattern.
Step 2: APPLY
ADHESIVE
Hold
eyelash with your thumb on top of the curl.
Apply a thin line of adhesive to the top of the base, & let
adhesive set
for about 60 seconds.
Step 3: CONTOUR
& APPLY LASHES
apply
lashes near or on base of your natural lash line.
With your fingers,a cotton bud, or the end of an eyeshadow brush,
gently press along lash base to secure.
Experience will show you the exact area of placement for
comfortable fit.
When learning to apply lashes, be patient, it will take some
practice.
Step 4: IF EYELASH
LIFTS
Reapply
glue with toothpick by lifting area with
tweezers or finger & placing glue bead in lifted area.
As you wear false eyelshes you'll learn to detect if lashes have
lifted
just by how they feel upon your lid.
Step 5: To Remove lashes
Hold
outer corner of lash & gently peel downward
easing lash away from lid toward inner corner.
(If eyelash does not remove easily, take a warm washcloth &
place over
closed eyes to loosen adhesive.) Repeat step 5
Cleansing
Right, so you've been out on the town and now you're home, you're tired and all you wanto to do its get all this crap off your face so you can go to bed. We'll chances are you've already read this so have some of the produts Im about to mention. Most are availabale from your supermarket.
First of all you need to get all that gunk off your face. For this, I prefer to use a make up wipe, to get the majority of the make up off your face. Pounds make up wipes are my preferred choice, but good old baby wips work too - hell, if they can remove crap from babies asses', they can remove it from drag queens faces'! Make sure you remove your lashes and put them somewhere safe first!, font>
Next, you need to use a cleanser to remove the rest of the make up residue. I prefer a foaming cleanser to a creme one, out of habit I guess. I feel that if its foaming then its working. Psychological? you go figure.... My clenser of choice is the Clinique facial bar - not as harsh as soap, and really gets deep into your pores. Lather first in your hands, then lather all over your face, then use a flannel to wipe your face , and rinse. The price may be a bit off putting - but I works like a gem and lasts for AGES. .
I like to use an exfoliant then, but its optional. I feel like it wakes my skin up and gets those last traces off. Favourites are: Ponds Exfoliating Facial Scrub, Freemans Apricot and Sea Kelp Facial scrub, or Freemans Raspberry Alphahydroxy scrub. A face scrub is great before shaving, as it really gets the hair up from the face, for ease of shaving.
After Cleansing and Scrubbing your skin might be a little rough, so we moisturise! Always the budget queen, I feel a moisturiser is a moisturiser is a moisturiser! I dont care if they have alphabetahydroxypoxy stuff, or nanozanosheriods in them.... I find 100% pure aloe vera gel works perfectly, another favourite is St Ives Vanilla and Vitamin E. Theyre available everywhere, and it doesnt burn a hole in your face, or pocket for that matter!
Sometimes you may feel your skin needs a facelift....try a D I Y facial instead! I like to use freemans.... either the Freemans Avocado mud masque, or the Cucumber and Ginseng peel-off facial. You can also buy those two products in little sachets for under $3 from most pharmacies.
