Addiction Counseling: Performed graduate counseling internship with inpatients at Memphis Recovery Centers, Inc. and graduate practicum with inpatients at St. Francis Hospital Ace Care Unit, both in Memphis, TN. Performed undergraduate addiction practicum at St. Francis Hospital inpatient chemical addiction unit in Minot, ND. Peformed patient intakes, treatment planning, case management, individual, group, and family education classes, wrote and implemented education lectures, and performed individual, group, and family therapy. Taught 12-Step programs and accompanied patients to outside 12-Step meetings. Interacted with patients and family to facilitate understanding the addiction and recovery process. Three years experience (1991 - 1993) as a volunteer providing telephone and in-hospital emergency room crisis counseling in domestic violence and sexual assault cases. Provided individual counseling and emotional support; family, medical, and police intervention; emergency shelter housing; and information on area services for victims/survivors of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse and sexual assault cases. Certified by ND state as a Specialized Direct Services Provider: Certificate No. 258.

Child Abuse Counseling: Domestic Violence Crisis Center, P.O. Box 881, Minot, ND 58701. One year experience (1992 - 1993) as a volunteer counselor. Taught children in workshops the necessary skills to recognize and report sexual abuse, coping skills for domestic violence in the home, and resource education for locating and using peer support. Provided individual and group counseling and emotional support for children having experienced physical, emotional, neglect, and sexual abuse, and those witnessing domestic violence in the home.

(BWMT Memphis, a gay interracial social organization, recently dissolved after 18 years), and professionally with Friends for Life AIDS Resource Center, Memphis, TN 38104. Management: Over 12 years of successful management of government personnel and resources. As Section and Department Head, established budgets for operating expenses and equipment procurement, maintenance, and replacement; established personnel work and shift schedules; managed work loads; planned and implemented supervisory and worker training programs; conducted staff meetings, coordinated special projects, and trained supervisors; wrote personnel performance evaluations, promotion recommendations, and disciplinary actions; maintained correspondence, equipment, and personnel records; performed various OSHA and similar command inspections to insure compliance with all Federal and military directives; insured all section and department work objectives were completed through coordination and communication with all levels of the organizational structure.

Computer Skills: Literate in word processing and database management using various computer programs such as "Enable" and "Microsoft Office 98/2000." Literate in desktop publishing of newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, etc., using "Publish It" and other desktop publishing programs. AIDS Educator (HIV Prevention Education): Developed education programs. Created lesson plans, handouts, brochures and flyers, surveys, posters, speeches, etc. Scheduled, coordinated, and performed public speaking engagements with medical personnel in hospital environments; inmates (adult and juvenile) in correctional custody settings; students in public highschools, colleges, and universities; and patients in addiction treatment facilities. Conducted workshops and education training for staff, volunteers, and community outreach programs, conducted one-on-one counseling intervention. Performed telephone counseling on the AIDS hotline. Attended local and state HIV Prevention workshops and seminars. Wrote articles for publication. Prepared written reports. Designed and staffed AIDS/HIV Education and Prevention booths at community health fairs. Reviewed various grants for compliance and assisted in grant writing. Co-facilitated a support group for partners of persons with AIDS.
