This page is still under construction (as is ALL the "Travel Section"). All the pages here are still blank. For now, I just wanted to post some quick pictures of my first couple of winters in North Dakota. Some people couldn't believe what it was like when I told them.

Winter in North Dakota:

This picture was taken in early December, after decorating. The snow had already drifted halfway up the patio doors. By Christmas time, it was 'armpit' high. The highest it got was 2" from the top of the glass. A "light" Winter. Some years, the snow drifted to the top of the roofs.

This was typical TWICE daily. I'd shovel the driveway in the morning to get the car out of the garage, then shovel again in the evening to get the car back IN the garage. Problem was, usually it was the same snow. It was dry and powdery, and blew like sand.

I actually missed 1 day of work because of this snow storm. I actually went out, shoveled the snow, actually drove to the main intersection of the town, but the drift there was 10ft high, and couldn't get through it. It took me 3 hours to turn around and get back home. I did make it to work the next day. I would have turned around then, but there was no place I could: the roads had been graded to the point there was 1 lane with banks 6ft high along the road.
