Transgender Support Group
Virginia's Secret is an open group. There are no officers or fees to pay as we are all equal. We do not discriminate on any basis. We are open to all regardless of age, gender, sex, sexual or gender orientation, race or nationality. Our organization covers the full spectrum of the transgender community.
Virginia's Secret fosters gender diversity. This helps bridge the gap between traditionally polarized factions within the transgender community. The spectrum of inclusion within the transgender community is actually quite diverse. Transsexuals (Pre-op, Post-op, and Non-Op), crossdresses, trangenderists, advanced crossdressers, androgymists, and fetishists all make up the diversity of the transgender community. The specific needs of the transsexual may differ from the more practical needs of the crossdresser. We try to address the needs of all who find themselves within the transgender community. Through openly sharing, and socializing, open communication can result in many diverse needs being met.
We act as a clearinghouse of information and resources to other transgender groups throughout the United States and the world. Our main functions are outreach, information sharing, education, and locally meeting the diverse needs of those who contact us regarding transgender issues. We hope to foster better public acceptance of transgendered people through public education.
We are located in Richmond Virginia and we invite you to join us. Our group meets every Tuesaday at Babe's in Carytown at @7pm and on the third Saturday of each month at Godfrey's and have discussion topic of interest to transgendered people. In addition, the meeting serves as an opportunity to dress in an atmosphere of total acceptance and understanding regardless of whether or not you "pass". This gives you the opportunity to share feelings, ideas, etc. with others who share similar interests. Facilities are avalable for you to change, and although dressing is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Come as yourself!
This is not a group where you can expect to find a partner. We are a group of caring individuals who are willing to take their time to help you in any way we can, be it conversaton, shopping, make-up or any thing else you may need assistance with.
Security is of extreme importance to our group. We realize that many people who are transgender may not be able to risk open disclosure. We have a strict policy of confidentiality to protect those of us who have much to lose due to public ignorance. The identity of all members must be held in strict confidence.
