What is Depression?

Depression is an illness. Let's get that clear. Depression can make you feel sad, angry, numb, or any number of things. Depression is a result of unbalenced chemicals in the brain, which can be treated with medication or by Physcotherapy.
 
If you have Depression, the most important thing I can try to get across, is that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Both Leeor and I have had Depression. And we can tell you that it does END. Who Gets Depression?

Anyone can get depression, it is not thier fault, nor the fault of anyone else arround them....
Depression has to do with chemicals in the brain.

Why do people get Depression?

People sometimes get depression for no reson at all. Sometimes, however, depression may be triggered by the loss of a loved one, or by a traumatic situation the person goes though, such as rape, or violent crime.

How do I get better?

You can get better by taking medication if your doctor thinks you need it, and by talking out your feelings with a therepist and your friends and family.
Your friends and family care for you, and they want to help. Don't give up on them.

How do I help my friend or family member?

You can help your friend or family member by reffering them to a doctor. You should also talk with the person and let them know that you are there and that you want to help.
Find out all you can about depression so you can help them understand what depression is all about.
If they talk about suicide, even jokingly, take them seriosly, watch for warning signs of someone about to commit suicide; writing a will, talking about death a lot, talking about thier funeral, or giving away important items to them.
