2:00-3:30 p.m. STEPS IN THE CITY. Open, Twelve-Step, Gay, No Smoking. Sometimes there are more than a dozen people in attendance. Meets in a dreary building that also houses a public mental-health facility. At entrance to building (from an interior parking lot) a security guard may ask you to sign in and take a visitor's badge. Lindemann Center, Boston Room, Staniford Street, Boston. Within walking distance of Government Center.

6:00-7:30 p.m. NEW COMMONWEALTH, generally referred to as "New Comm." Open, Twelve-Step, No Smoking. Not a gay meeting. Maybe half of the people there are gay. Lower Ampitheatre, Massachusetts General Hospital. Near Charles stop on the Red Line.



MONDAY

7:30-8:25 a.m. BACK BAY STEPS. Open, Twelve Step, No Smoking. (A Tradition meeting on the first Monday of the month.) Not a gay meeting. Maybe twenty percent of the people there are gay. Arlington Street Church, 351 Boylston Street, Boston, near Arlington Street stop on Green Line.

7:00-8:00 p.m. MONTGOMERY PLACE. Closed Big Book Discussion, No Smoking. Haley House, 23 Dartmouth Street in South End. Within walking distance of Back Bay Station on Orange Line and commuter rail. Not a gay meeting, but most of the people in attendance are gay.

8:00-9:30 p.m. OPEN TO ALL. Open, Discussion, Gay, No Smoking. Unitarian Church, Church Street, near Harvard Square, Cambridge.



TUESDAY

7:30-8:25 a.m. BACK BAY STEPS. Open, Twelve Step, No Smoking. Not a gay meeting. Maybe twenty percent of the people there are gay. Arlington Street Church, 351 Boylston Street, Boston, near Arlington Street stop on Green Line.

7:00 p.m.   MEETINGHOUSE HILL, Dorchester.  Open, No Smoking.  The First Parish Church in Dorchester located at 11 Parish Road , Dorchester.  This is not a gay meeting, but it has been reported to be gay-friendly. I list the meeting because it may be of interest to people who live in the immediate vicinity. I once lived in that neighborhood myself, and I would advise tourists and others unfamiliar with the area to stay away. One of my neighbors was murdered while walking home from a grocery store at about 6:45 in the evening. And that was not an isolated incident. It did take place more than fifteen years ago, but I an unaware that conditions have improved in the area.

7:00-8:00 p.m. Beginners Meeting at CROSSROADS. Open, No Smoking. Two beginners' meetings, a larger one and a smaller one. Not a gay meeting, but maybe ninety percent or more of the people there are gay. Far more men than women. Church of the Covenant, basement, 67 Newbury Street, Boston. At corner of Berkeley Street and Newbury Street. Not far from Arlington Street station on the Green Line.

8:30  p.m. CROSSROADS. Open, No Smoking. Not a gay meeting, but maybe ninety percent or more of the people there are gay. Far more men than women. A speaker meeting. On the last Tuesday of the month, the speakers are members of the group celebrating their anniversary that month. On other Tuesdays, the meetings are put on by members of other groups visiting on "commitments." Church of the Covenant, basement, 67 Newbury Street, Boston. At corner of Berkeley Street and Newbury Street. Not far from Arlington Street station on the Green Line.

WEDNESDAY

8:30-10:00 P.M. DISCUSSION. Gay, No Smoking. Arlington Street Church, corner of Arlington and Boylston Streets in Boston. Near Arlington Street station on Green Line.

THURSDAY

7:30-8:25 a.m. BACK BAY STEPS. Open, Twelve Step, No Smoking. Not a gay meeting. Maybe twenty percent of the people there are gay. Arlington Street Church, 351 Boylston Street, Boston, near Arlington Street stop on Green Line.

Noon-1:00 p.m. LUNCH. Meeting formerly known as TRINITY. Closed, Discussion, No Smoking. Not a gay meeting. Maybe forty percent of the people there are gay. Emmanuel Church, Choir room, second floor, 15 Newbury Street, Boston, near Arlington Street stop on Green Line.

7:00-7:45 p.m. Beginners meeting at AMPITHEATRE Group. Open, No Smoking. Not a gay meeting. Maybe eighty percent of the people there are gay. More men than women. Lower Ampitheatre, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Near Charles station on Red Line.

8:00-9:00 p.m. AMPITHEATRE. Open, No Smoking. A speaker meeting. Not a gay meeting. Maybe eighty percent of the people there are gay. More men than women. Lower Ampitheatre, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Near Charles station on Red Line.



FRIDAY

6:00 p.m. BIG BOOK. Closed, Gay, Big Book Discussion, No Smoking. 76 Kilmarnock Street.

SATURDAY

9:30-11:00 a.m. FRIENDS. Open, Speaker Discussion, No Smoking. Quaker Meeting House, Brattle and Longfellow Streets, Cambridge. Described as "gay-friendly" by one who attends regularly.

12:30-1:30 p.m. ALCOHOLICS TOGETHER. Open, Discussion, Gay, No Smoking. Lower Ampitheatre, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Near Charles station on Red Line.

8:00-9:30 p.m. BEACON HILL. Open, No Smoking. Church of the Advent on Brimmer Street, near the corner of Mount Vernon Street. A speaker meeting. Not a gay meeting, but maybe eighty percent of the people there are gay.
