THE LEATHER AND LEVI SCENE
AND BEING CATHOLIC

As Catholic gays and lesbians who are into leather/levi, we represent another facet of the Catholic church. We express ourselves in a variety of ways:

  • Emotionally

  • Psychologically

  • Physically

  • Sexually

  • Spiritually

    We believe that gay men and lesbian women can express their sexuality in a manner consonant with Christ's teaching. We further believe that all sexuality can be exercised in an ethically responsible and unselfish way.

    Dignity USA, the organization for gay and lesbian Catholics, established a national committee in 1987 as a Dignity inreach and as an outreach to the leather/levi community. Dignity affirms the wholesomeness of one's spiritual and sexual sides.

    THE DEFENDERS OF DIGNITY



    The Defenders were founded in 1981 as a leather/levi club. We are not only an association within Dignity, but also a club in the leather/levi community.

    AIMS



    Within Dignity: To work for the acceptance of the leather/levi community as full and equal members of the one Christ.

    For Individuals: To generate self respect and to encourage an active role in Dignity, the Church, and Society. To instill in our members a mature outlook which would aid in integrating the spiritual and sexual sides of their lives.

    For the Leather/Levi Community: To provide activities of a social, religious, and recreational nature which, through the spirit of Christian friendship, would strengthen their sense of acceptance, integrity, and self-understanding.
