Below are some pictures of my 7 year old daughters rash due to Lamictal, This is after two days of therapy at 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg in the evening. She had a total of 75 mg before we noticed very small pimple like bumps on her legs. We took her to her neurologist and was told that this is NOT a Lamictal rash keep giving her the medicine, we disagreed and did not continue the med. As you can see by the day 2 and 3 pictures we are glad we didn't. I do not have pictures of the first days rash but it would best be described by very small pimple type bumps that are much less red than pictured here.... Oh and when the rash had developed to this stage the Neurologist DID agree that it was the Lamictal causing the rash and told us to stop the med(we already had 24 hrs before THANK GOD!) We found out later Christy had been started on a schedule that was too agressive, Doc admitted info for dose came from a drug rep and was obviously wrong, so after being treated like over reacting parents by our Neuro's partner come to find out Dad/Mom knew best after all!!! Moral? you know your child better than anyone.

Update--9/19/02: We rechallenged with Lamictal after the failure of numerous other meds, she has been on Lamictal since Nov 2001 and SZ free since Jan. 2002 with no ill affects from the drug. Don't let the threat of rash scare you just be aware and ask your doctor all the risks/symptoms or possible side affects to look for. Also know that we caught this rash in the VERY early stages and it never developed into the truly dangerous rash. With that being said she was uncomfortable for several days and the marks didn't completely go away for several weeks. 1
