TEN OUTSTANDING YOUTH LEADERS OF CEBU (1992)

Conducted by the Cebu City Government spearheaded by Mayor Tomas Osmena. Coco was selected by a panel of local well-known academicians, politicians, media personalities, community and religious leaders and other representatives of various socio-economic groups.

He was chosen through his personal and community achievements, leadership, projects, environmental concern levels and other more criteria. also, recommendations from local leaders in their community and endorsements are one of the factors in the selection.

From 500 aspirants, the cut was lowered to 50 contestants and a rigid interview and "problem - solving" activity were given to the remaining 50. Coco topped the selection ( placing #1 ), and the rest is history.

OUTSTANDING CEBUANO YOUTH (1990)

Conducted by Radio Station DYMF-"Bombo Radyo sa Sugbo". The selection is basically the same concept as o the first one but the judging was based by the number of calls by the listeners who then cast their votes.

OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY YOUTH AWARD

Spearheaded by the Philippines' DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, CULTURE, AND SPORTS (DECS). In 1988, during that time Coco was the president of the Bonifacio Youth Club, which was an active community-based youth group in Bonifacio (Pari-an District). The said youth group were nominated to participate in the government (coursed through DECS) youth-oriented projects. As it's president Coco organized his members, created some fund-raising projects, and the proceed was used to build a chapel and a community "Youth Drop-In Center" wherein the youths in the community will go there, read books, play chess, scrabbles etc., play musical instruments and a lot of other activities which will made them busy with advantageous and educational involvements and activities.
