The CSSS is a component of the St. Aelred Friendship Society which has lay persons directly involved as members. Guided by its central tenet that spirituality and sexuality are equally essential elements of human fulfillment, members of CSSS study the implications and applications of unifying spirituality and sexuality (soul and body) in today's world. They do this through seminars, workshops, symposia, group sessions -- and in their daily lives. Some members of CSSS meet in Gay Men's Support Groups. There are weekly sessions of sharing in which gay and bisexual men open up their lives to one another and support each other in life's ups and downs. Spiritual support groups, consisting mostly of lesbians and gays, bring home the reality of God's unconditional love through seminars, retreats and spiritual exercises and support the adherents in their quest for holiness, life in union with God. CSSS offers both professional and peer counseling to gays and lesbians regarding issues pertaining to their sexual orientation.
CSSS is affiliated with Ang Ladlad, the Lesbian and Gay Legislative Advocacy Network (LAGABLAB), and the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) which are a few of the activist involvements of the Center. And it is a member of Task Force Pride, the network which sponsors and produces the annual celebration of Gay and Lesbian Pride.
