As we are both avid fans of Starcraft
and it's expansion, Brood Wars. I thought that I would just put up some strategies that I
frequently use. [Su]
Just an introduction to the Starcraft
game in case for those that don't know anything about it. (:
Starcraft came out something like 2
years ago and I am still playing it because it's fun. It is a RTS game i.e. real-time
strategy game. (: The game has 3 unique races with each of their own abilities and spells.
They are Terran, Zerg and Protoss. I play a pretty decent game of Zerg and Protoss but
aren't really good at Terran. :P
Just to start off this page, I would
like to post up a strategy of my Zerg early game. It's more applicable for team games
rather than 1v1s. This method of building up can enable to have a decent early rush as
well as a not-so-shitty economy too.

and unzip the file. Then copy the federation.ttf onto your c:/windows/fonts/
directory to view this beautiful font! (:
Build 1 drone. Then send all the 4
other drones to individual patches of minerals.
Send your
overlord to scout. It sure flies slowly but you gain knowledge of your surroundings. (:
Keep building
drones till control 8/9 (actually 9/9 will also do. it's your preference). You have
got to keep building drones every time your bank hits 50 minerals.
Wait till your
bank hits 142++ minerals. Pull 1 drone off from mining minerals (and make sure he's not
carrying any minerals and morph it into spawning pool <Jess likes to morph drones with
something in their mouths :o >
If your control
is now 7/9, build another drone. And then send that drone out to scout/explore the
map/surroundings. If it's 8/9, pull one drone off mining and explore......
After that, when
you hit 100 minerals, build your 2nd overlord. Your spawning pool should be halfway done
by now. (:
Then don't build
anymore drones..... save up 150 minerals to build 3 pairs of zerglings.
When the
zerglings hatch, use them to attack the enemy (if you have found him) with 1 of your
allies or use them to scout.
You may want to
hatch your next larvae into zerglings, but it's really up to you. (: But most of the time
I do that when I am still attacking the enemy. If not, I would rather
build another drone. (:
Then save up 300
minerals. (It's comes pretty soon anyway) and morph your 2nd hatchery. Since that you have
already sacrificed your economy for rushing, it's vital that you get your 2nd hatchery
ASAP. Any later you get it would be peril! This is due to the slow spawning of larvae due
to the 1.07 patch.
From then on,
just keep building drones/overlords and some protection such as sunken colonies etc etc
and from here, you are on your own! (:
Lurker!! Once they burrow..as in a group of 5 to 6, that's it...
their spikes will pierce your enemies to death! |
THe Medic. When using terran.
It is best to have medics along to heal your marines. M & M s are always powerful in
early rushes. However.. as you can see.. they have no fighting abilities.. they let out
blood curdling screams when slaughtered. |
Then keep building drones/SCVs/probes always.
Always remember that for 1 military unit/s you build, your economy suffers. Especially in
the case of Zerg. The number of larvae is very often your production limit. The production
limit can consists of military or drones/overlords.
Always watch your control.
Don't wait till you want to build a few units and realise that you can't because you don't
have enough control/supply.
For zerg, the general rule
is 2/3. For example your control hits 15/17, then it's time to build an overlord. The only
exception is the zerg early game which I have mentioned earlier. I usually keep at least 5
slots empty. That would be the bare minimum. I think the 2/3 rule is useful. (:
