Porsche 911s have always been racers' cars, but slowly and surely the cars became heavier as they became more comfortable and luxurious. With this in mind Porsche produced the 911CS 'Club Sport', a Carrera devoid of creature comforts and weighing about 60kg less than the stock Carrera. Only 610 Carrera Club Sports were made.

The 911 GT3 was designed along the same lines. Developed from the Supercup model, the GT3 was available in two versions: the Club Sport with its rollcage and six point harness, and the more luxurious road going car. Only about 1,250 GT3's were produced.
