Mercedes-Benz SL
The Mercedes SL remains as sought after today as when it was first introduced. It combined solid German build quality and engineering with handling and performance that even Stirling Moss gave the thumbs up. It proved itself in Europe's toughest rally, the Marathon de la Route, over a Spa-Sophia-Liège route, which a 230SL won in 1963. The number of 230, 250 and 280 SL's produced between 1963 and 1971 came close to 49 000.
