Heavy
(for the known and unknown)
heavy
like a soiled baby's diaper
man exploded
into eternal peace
before
the brave could respond
before
the wheelchair bound
could be saved
their fate
made inevitable
heavy
like dredlocks
after an unexpected
thunderstorm
it rained gasoline showers
from clouds of steely metal
leaving them huddled
in fetal positions
scattered in cinders
heavy
like the cross
he carried for jesus
bent and stooped
the courageous
leapt into the unknown
forced to make a choice
hearts beating loudly
in our mouths
now they live within
heavy
