What does it mean to be queer, to me?

The opinions expressed on this page are my opinions alone. You may not agree, that's fine. If you would like to discuss your opinions with me, you can e-mail me at swallace@iname.com

What being "Queer" means to me, is that I have been given a special role by God and Nature. I have been given the ability to look at and experience the world with both sides of my brain and human nature, right/left, male/female, Yin/Yang.

I don't consider myself to be either masculine or feminine. I simple am who and what I am, no more no less.

I have never done female drag , but do not consider it an impossibility. I have an attraction to the fringe of sexual lifestyles; such as the leather, piercing, fisting and light pain. I am what is usually called a "switcher." Which means I "switch" roles, Dominant/Submissive-Top/Bottom.   I presently have one piercing, a Price Albert (an 8 gauge ring through the lower part of the head of my penis). Piercing is not for everyone, nor does it represent a queer lifestyle. I sometimes, not always find pain to be a translation of eroticism. I digress....

So you like to touch!!

Back to what I think it means to be queer. Socially most Homosexuals try to peg themselves into one of two roles: Masculine/Top, or Feminine/Bottom, with a disproportionate percentage falling in-between. I believe this to be due to social/religious influences. Many religions specify and promote separate sexes, i.e. In order to have a sexual relationship there has to exist a male and a female, so when two people of the same sex join, one should take the role of the male and the other the female. This is fine, except that many homosexuals live their whole lives in one role or the other. I believe this to be against our nature.

We, homosexuals, were given the ability to experience this world as a whole being: both male and female. God created man and woman, so that together they could become as One ("One" being whole or pure). We have this in ourselves. We are whole and pure without the need to join with another. When two homosexuals join they are two whole beings intertwined to create a magnificent power that can be harnessed into either a positive or negative force. Because of the influences of our modern society we have lost the knowledge that was ours in a older time.

Our community has spent many centuries lost in self doubt and self hatred. It is time for us to reclaim our power and place in society, we are the central axis of the human equation.

We are the Center of Humanity, but only when we are ONE.
