About your commune idea...some folks call it "intentional communities" there are many models of communities and some even give examples of how to set up a commune/cooperative. Also you may want to do a search on "co-housing". There are alot of resources
listed for the States and Canada. Sorry, but I lost my list of links or I'd forward it to you.
Good Luck on your search!

The great thing about reinterpreting Pinky and the Brain, is that subject position is the issue, not the "correct" interpretation. Interpretation cannot be "wrong" from the point of standpoint epistemology. We can understand and interpret Pinky and the
rain as we wish. It seems rather obvious to me, however, that it is meant to be "disruptive" and "reinscribe" heterosexist discourse simulataneously. This reinscription is necessary to also usurp heterosexist praxis. Fun stuff!!

Desert Hearts" and "When Night Is Falling"..to sit in cafes and discuss the meaning of life and the latest Xena episode..I just feel like there has to be someone in Nova Scotia who has things in common with me and who wants to spend time enjoying life wit
me ! :-) Hey person, where are you??

I have never even thought about P & B as a gay couple, although I used to think of my gaydar as quite elaborated. So thanks for enlightening me! Well, some of it might be a bit far-fetched though. I came across this page accidentally, trying to get other
eople's opinion on Xena's sexuality, and that's what occupies my mind most at the moment (more than it should, probably). E-mail me if you want to discuss this matter with a Swiss student with too much time on her hands.

Good thoughts. Since I'd want everyone to be happy, if someone wanted their own house to live in, I think that's a great idea. One of the images going through my mind over this was the villiage depicted in the Xena fanfiction, "Bound" by Melissa Good. N
ce little huts about the forest for those that want them, and a larger communal kitchen (and healer's hut) at the center, where everyone comes in throughout the day and grabs their food and maybe helps stock the supplies, etc.
But really, what physical form the place takes is completely up for grabs. I entirely expect it will just be a regular (largish) house on a large piece of land (possibly a farm that someone's givin up on). I'm expected that more people will be looking m
re for what you describe than the "roughing it" sort of life that I am looking for, but now that there's a few voices speaking about it, at least it's easier to see what everyone might want and figure out how to acomidate that.
Do you know any places that give free forwarding to multiple email addresses? (bigfoot only forwards to one address doesn't it?)... maybe i'm wrong. I'd like to get a mailing list going on this. People have had some good ideas and I'd like everyone to h
ar them instead of me having to relay everything that's said.

just a few more thoughts: perhaps, if you are going to set it up a a private area you could consider creating a sort of distributed condominium. that way you would be able to deal with problem people leagally. i know this is kind of harsh and it probably
eans that i am getting older but i guess i have finally realized that there are sometimes people that you don't want arround because they will hurt you and your friends. by requireing them to sign a lease/contract of sorts you can maintain an environment
hat will help controle problems. with this you can do anything from renting rooms to renting houses.

ok. so, i have actually been thinking about something similar for quite some time now. mostly it has been for selfish reasons. i have been trying to figure out how i can bring many of my friends into the same geographical area.
while the idea of a survivalist commune is nobel i must admit that i really like most of the modern convineneces provided by the modern world like flush toilets, year round produce, and computers.
as well the idea of a group home is not as attractive as it once was. i like having my own soace and my own things.
something that i think would be more interesting would be a communal villiage. you find a small town somewhere that is dying. (and i am sure that there are a bunch) and then you slowly move your people in.
to help fund it you would want to set up something to create money. my vision would be something like the Stonebender commune in Idoru by William Gibson.
this would provice a number of things.
1. you would have ll of the benefits of a town like a school, a telecommunications system, a social system and some shops.
2. you would still have all of the modern convienences you need.
3. as long as you were not going somewhere that was considered "Popular" you should not be dealing with big money.
4. road access.
5. since you are a town you can make your own laws about, for example, airborn pollutants.

I would like to get the ball rolling on a discussion over the ideas I talking about concerning the starting of a commune. (Found at the above url). The people I talk to seem to think it would be nice to do. But I havn't heard any ideas from people via i
ternet that might have read the commune page.
From the people I _have_ talked to, get the impression that most people would probably love to experience it, but would prefer to visit and be able to return to their high paying jobs and nice cars etc later then to live there full time. If that's what
eople want, then I think we should acomidate for them as well. It may not be very practical to do so as far as food and space etc goes but .. well... what do you think about it?
(_please_ write. I see many people read this area but very few ever write ... To make this commune idea take place, I really need input, even if not from people that intend to ever be a part of it).
thanks.

Subject: Pinky and Brain
then there is the proposition that Pinky and the Brain are exactly what
they appear to be - A meglomaniac in a long term relationship with a
pre-operative transexual mouse. This takes care of the *problem* of
excess male female role modeling and it's non-applicability to most gay
relationships ie "Who's the man?" "We are both men, thank you."
I sort of love it, although it does raise the question of why we think
of Pinky as male anyway, since the mannerisms and many of the references
made well I think you see the point.
Love it, simply smashing! Pinky is simply the best sidekick to come
along in years (OH my God I hope the Gabriellla fan club doesn't get see
this! But hey, Pinky isn't *real*!)
