I was born and grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. My family were conservative Baptists and I was very involved in the Church.
In high school I was involved in school bands and choirs and was a youth leader in my Church.
Life changed drastically when I went to University. There I met the first real love of my life and realized I was a lesbian. Now, being brought up in the Baptist Church, I had been raised to believe that homosexuality was wrong. For 10 years I tried to be straight. I denied my true feeling and tried to be what was expected of me. In 1996, amidst depression and self hatred, I met two very special friends. They were a lesbian couple who helped me through the difficult re-realization and coming out process. Through these friends I met my former partner, K.
Most recently, I've discovered that I am a "femme". You look at the pics in this web site and think "no shit!" Well, I tried to be butch (lol) and I tried to be "andro", but I am femme and that's just the way it is. So how did this new discovery come about? Well....I fell in love with the most wonderful butch on earth. I knew she was butch - she had never really labeled herself - which is fine. But, the more I read at http://www.butch-femme.com, the more I realize that Kate and I are a butch-femme couple. It's not so much about how we look (however, I do look femme and she does look butch), it's more about how we are. Our attitudes, the roles we play in each others lives, how we love each other.

I am currently living in Nova Scotia. In 20 days from now (June 9, 2000) I will be moving to Iowa to live with Kate. *S*
I teach elementary school music here in Nova Scotia. I also compose and direct choirs.
I listen to music that uplifts me. This includes Sarah McLaghlan, Melissa Etheridge, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, and MY FAVORITES: the Indigo Girls. They have brought so much insight to my life.
