Ecstasy

Ecstasy is a synthetic drug with a structure similar to methamphetamine.

Ecstacy became available as a street drug in the 80's and in the 90's ecstacy is used by college students and young adults particularly during raves (all night dance partys).

Effects of ecstasy after an extencive can be damage of the brain cells that produce serotonin (a brain chemical that influences mood, appitite, etc.) In some areas of the brain, like the area of learning and memory, cells did not recover well. But in areas where serotonin is created, the cells recovered to normal or in excess.
So, exessive and high dosages of ecstacy, resulting in loss of serotonin may effect one area of the brain, but in another region may effect normally or create serotonine in overabundance.
