Any church that has affirmed sexuality as "God’s good gift", and committed itself to a continuing dialogue about the place of homosexual people in its life deserves a chance.

I enjoy meeting other queer christians at NCYC.

It is sad that some members of the Uniting Church in Australia discriminate against and vilify homosexual people — sometimes openly, sometimes in confidential processes.

The Eastside Parish is a gay and lesbian safe place.

Thank you God for making me queer

Uniting Church members celebrating diversity danced down Oxford Street to the disco beat of "I believe on a God that can dance" at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Many see these events as mindless, soul-sapping hedonism, filled with days of numbed, intoxicated, often unsafe encounters that corrode the spirit. And that road is available to any who wish to take it. But other roads are possible.

If you have ever stood on a dance floor and thrown your arms in the air and howled with joy at the opening strains of a favorite mix, and then realized that everyone around you has, in the same moment, with the same feeling, done the same thing, and if in that moment you felt brotherhood with the strangers around you and a release from the alienation of mundane life, then you treasured that moment and wondered how you could bring its spirit to every day you live.

That was a religious celebration.
