Rev Dr Dorothy McRae McMahon wore her clerical collar to officially launch the month long Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival. The festival is when we say that we are everywhere. We are conductors of orchestras, we play good football, we are in schools as teachers and students and we are in church. We are not defined by our sexuality alone. We are spiritual and loving people. We claim with pride that we are people who have the right to love. Most of us would also claim that we are spiritual beings. We are people of body, mind heart and soul - full and free human beings. Diversity celebrated with a dancing God Tens of thousands of spectators cheered and applauded 140 Uniting Church members — including 17 ministers — who participated in the 20th annual Sydney Mardi Gras Parade on February 28 1998. |
