Date: Sun, 10 Nov 1996 00:01:55 -0600 From: m Subject: Toy Story SRU--Toy Story (based on Bill Hart's concept) SueAnn was eleven years old. She was a quiet sixth grader with shoulder length red hair and a smattering of freckles on and around her nose. She didn't have very many close friends and usually kept to herself, except when she had to keep an eye on her brother. Her brother! What a headache! Seth was five, but was always quick to point out that he was "going on six." He was the opposite of SueAnn in many ways, but this was especially evident in his personality. While SueAnn loved to spend time alone, Seth loved to pester others, capturing lots of attention in the process. He especially loved to pester SueAnn, often coming into her room without permission and getting into her prized possessions. SueAnn loved her doll collection. She had every Barbie, Malibu Stacy, Ken, and other popular little girl doll she could coax her parents into bestowing upon her. She even liked the little wizard doll that the old man in the mall had given her when her family had peeked in his little shop the previous weekend. She enjoyed the imaginary world she had created for her toys, and spent hours in her room engrossed in it. Bob and Wendy Woodall, SueAnn's parents, weren't so sure if this doll fantasizing was such a good idea, though. "Do you really believe that it's healthy for SueAnn to spend so much time in her room every day?" Wendy asked her husband for the umpteenth time. Wendy Woodall was an attractively plump mid-thirtyish housewife with long straight brown hair. Bob Woodall rubbed his moustache thoughtfully. "Do you think that this is affecting her social life?" "Of course it is," Wendy replied. "Do you recall Wendy spending time with any other child her age lately? The only child she ever spends time with outside of school is Seth, and she only complains about him." Bob hurriedly dressed for work. He buttoned up his shirt noticing that his formerly trim tummy was now straining one of the buttons. Got to exercise, he thought. Gotta get this body back into some kind of better shape. Those women at the office aren't going to keep falling for my come-on lines if I don't shape up. "Well, what should we do about it?" he absently asked his wife. "We can't very well lock her out of her room every day." "No, but we can take away her attraction to it," Wendy straightened her yellow dress as she spoke. She gazed at her reflection in the mirror. She still had some well formed curves, but they were all well cushioned with fat. She tried not to think that she probably weighed a little more than her husband's 185 pounds now. "What are you suggesting?" "I'm suggesting that we take away all those babyish dolls of hers!" she answered as she turned and sucked in her stomach. Gotta lose some of this weight, she thought. If only I could suck in my hips. I'll join a health club. I'll look better AND be fashionable. "But she loves those dolls," Bob exclaimed. "I know, but at her age it's not healthy for a girl to be playing with babyish toys like those. She's almost ready for junior high." "Honey...if you say so, then I trust your judgement. Why don't you collect them from her room while she's at school today." SueAnn's favorite part of every school day was getting home, and more specifically to her room, where she could once again become lord of her private world. Inspired by the little wizard doll, in this world she had decreed that magic was the main force affecting the lives of its inhabitants. She also had set one main rule governing the magic: Only three wishes per citizen. So she would observe her imaginary world as Ken wished that Barbie loved him and got his wish. Her Xena doll would wish for a weapon to appear, and there it would be in her hand to fight the stuffed Pete's Dragon. SueAnn resolved to play the wish game with her dolls until they had all used their three wishes. When she arrived home one afternoon, however, Seth greeted her at the door with a glint in his eye. "You're gonna be mad, SueAnny!" he expectantly said. "What did you do this time Seth," she responded with exasperation in her voice. "I didn't do nothing," her bratty little brother exclaimed. "Mommy did it!" Puzzled, Sarah marched back to her room. She opened her door, wanting to escape from any family crisis into her own world, but was greeted with a shock. Everyone was gone. "Seth!" she screamed. "Where are my dolls?" "Seth doesn't have them dear," her mother appeared suddenly. "I took them." "What do you mean you took them?! That's stealing!" "Now SueAnn. Lower your voice. I only did what's best for you. You spend far too much time up here with your little toys." "They're not just toys...they're my friends! Where are they!" SueAnn flew out of her room and down the hall, peering into rooms as she went. "You're wasting your time dear! Your father is just driving up. He delivered them to Goodwill. Now SueAnn, you're a young lady now...and young ladies don't play with dolls! They have friends their own age, and they talk about boys and fashion. It's time to grow up dear." "No!!! That's not fair!" SueAnn retreated quickly to her room, throwing herself onto her bed and sobbing into her pillow. How could they have done that? she thought. It's not fair! I don't want to grow up like them. All they care about is looking good in front of the neighbors! They don't want to have a weird daughter when they are such a "perfect" couple. SueAnn began to think about her doll friends and her world that she had made for them. She entered that world in her mind. She saw all the citizens there, all the houses, and animals, and monsters... "I wish my friends were back." SueAnn removed her head from the pillow and was shocked to see all her dolls back in their proper places as if they had never been gone. Of course, she thought. I never used MY wishes. Just then, her father hustled into her room with the wife right on his heels. "So SueAnn. I understand you've been quite rude to your mother..." his voice trailed off as he noticed the gigantic collection of dolls, the same dolls he had just carted away. "I thought you took these to Goodwill!" Wendy exclaimed. "I did...I can't explain this. I guess SueAnn had these hidden somewhere. I guess I'll just have to make another trip." "NO!!!" SueAnn cried. "Watch your tone young lady! Come on Wendy. Help me gather these up. We can't have her still playing with them when she's twenty-one." SueAnn watched as tears reformed in her eyes. They must have never had toys, she thought. I wish they could understand what my imaginary world is like. The little wizard doll, sitting on a shelf in the corner normally had a sullen expression, but if SueAnn had looked closely, she would have noticed a slight smile on his face. Immediately after that thought formed in SueAnn's mind something strange happened. Bob and Wendy were both leaning over picking up dolls when their arms appeared to grow rigid. "What's happeninnnn..." SueAnn watched as all human detail slowly faded from her parents' faces. Their eyes looked like plastic beads, and their mouths slowly contorted into happy face smiles. They began to resemble mannequins. Wendy continued to move around like a robot as the transformation continued, but her movement lessened by the moment. Bob's hair, while remaining the same color, became a hard plastic covering on the top of his head. Wendy's breasts no longer bounced as her movement slowed. Instead her shape became rigid and fixed. Finally, two lifesized dolls stood before the amazed SueAnn, with only the clothes unchanged. Then, the two figures slowly shrank until they were just two more additions to her enormous doll collection. SueAnn felt sick. She raced for the bathroom and washed her face with cold water. She stared in the mirror at her own shocked expression and then remembered that she still had one wish left. She headed back toward her room. When she got there, though, she found the door locked. "Seth! Are you in there?! Let me in right now...it's important!" After continually banging on her door, she was finally rewarded as Seth timidly opened it. "Sorry SueAnn. I was just playing." "Play in your own room, brat!" She pushed him into the hall and closed the door. "I wish my parents were no longer dolls, but real people!" she cried. SueAnn watched as two dolls across the room on her bed slowly grew larger. Wait a minute, she thought. I left them on the floor over here. How did they get there? A few moments later SueAnn received more surprises as the transformation progressed and was then complete. She closed her eyes in shock, and tried to wish again, but realized that she had made here last wish. Wendy sat up on the bed and raised her hand to her head. I must have blacked out, she thought. She rubbed her forehead and was shocked by the sensation. Her hand was rough and large. She looked at it. It was a man's hand. She looked down and gasped. Bob also was looking down by this time. He saw his plump womanly figure through the yellow dress he was wearing. He reached down to investigate this strange dream he believed he must be having and lifted one of his breasts. At that moment Seth burst into the room. "Do you like my joke SueAnn? I switched your dolls' heads!" No matter how hard she tried, SueAnn could not resume her imaginary doll wish game again... much to her parent's dismay. Please feel free if you'd like to speculate what might happen next to this family or any other family that might inherit the little wizard doll. Hope you enjoyed, m
