Misty's Broomstick Lace

This is MY broomstick lace substitute. It requires no equipment and no extra needles. It is knitted, and extremely simple. You could make a baby blanket with this and the pattern included is eminently suitable for all skill levels and gives extremely fast results.

If you feel a burning need to copy this pattern to your own site, I have a link button somewhere.

Materials for complete Baby Blanket
  • (measures 22" by about 30", just right for a cradle coverlet)
  • about 10-12 oz worsted weight yarn
  • Size 10 needles (size 15 needle instructions here)
  • NOTE: This Pattern Looks Best when Done in Multiples of 4 + whatever you like for a border x 2.

    Pattern
  • Row 1: Knit the border stitches however you like. When you get to the pattern st, insert the needle into the st as if to knit. Wrap yarn around 3 times (For SIZE 15 NEEDLES: wrap yarn around twice). Repeat for every st, or for an especially pretty effect, every other st. ((Should you try the every other st, knit on Row 1 and purl on Row 2.))
  • Row 2: Knit your border as you please. When on the pattern st,* insert the needle as if to knit, and drop the yarnovers. Repeat 3 more times.* When you have four long loops on the left needle, replace them on the right needle, and, with all four stitches together as one stitch, k, p, k p.* Repeat from * to * across.
  • Knit across.
  • Purl across.
  • Note: I cast on 64 for the cradle coverlet.

    Finishing
  • Materials:
  • Size g crochet hook
  • Little bit of contrasting yarn
  • Crochet around edges, for durability and a finished look. I use 1 row of dc, with three extra st in each corner, and then 2 rows of sc, with 4 in the corners of the first row and three in the second.

I lost the list I had of what graphics belonged to what site. If I am in error, please notify me at nymphnimue@hotmail.com. It will not be necessary to bite my head off, I am already quite contrite.

I believe this beautiful background came from Freemotion Graphics. 1
