Well! … (Picture me with my hands on my hips - *grin*

The "Ladies of Laurel" have given Martha a run for her money yet again!.  For those of you who missed last evening you should definitely be ashamed of yourselves for Deanna and Michelle definitely have the knack for entertaining.  Whether pre-Rainbow partying or post-Negotiator noshing these two divas are slowly but surely getting this entertaining thing down to a science!

The evening began, as all others do, with rollerblading (although I must confess we have gone to Remic’s an inordinate amount of times this summer!.  But I digress …

After a fabulous jaunt over to the other side of the river we all met at a little-known area of the bushes for what was supposed to be a quick dip in the mighty Ottawa River.  Well that didn’t happen but we all had a great laugh scaring the bedickens out of the regulars emerging from the dense foliage.  Image their surprise as they appeared from the bushes after spending a lazy afternoon au naturale under the sun and saw thirty of us staring at you (and passing judgement). *grin* No one said anything at the time but we were all glad we weren’t that poor dear!

Deciding to forego the swim we carried on through glamorous Hull and across the E.B. Eddy bridge (you know the one that the taxis would always take coming back from Le Club – before it’s unfortunate encounter with their "electrical wiring" *wink wink*).  From the bridge back to Deanna and Michelle’s for what was definitely a fabulous spread.

In true Martha tradition the grrls allowed their guests to get involved and we all lent a hand shucking the corn (that’s shucking Charlton, it’s not a typo!) *grin* This gave us all a moment to relax in our hostesses’ wonderful perennial garden and soak up the ambience that is Princess Stephanie! *grin*

With the corn successfully boiling away yours truly had a chance to run into the dining room and take the opportunity to sample the evening’s fare.  The pasta salad was perfect with fresh herbs from the grrl’s aforementioned garden and the focacia was … fabulous (I know you were waiting for it Todd) but what do we expect from our own Italian Stallion – especially now that she lives in Little Italy; don’t be mistaken though, there was a heavy Germanic influence in the herb butter used for spreading on the corn. (That’s right the corn you pigs … come to think of it, where did Simon and Phil disappear to with that plate of butter?! *grin*

Yours truly is slowly using up her Warholian allotted "15 minutes of fame" by showing my new "video".  Decked out in a fabulous orange tee with her requisite bangles dangling ever so boldly but unobtrusively around her neck this one gave Nancy Cooper an earful about what being a sister is all about in the nineties!.  Between shots of me they went on about other people’s "gayness", the history of Pride in the Capital and something about "Gay Hockey" (whassup with that?), but let’s face it, … it’s all about me!!.  For once, please let it be all about me!!!.  (If anyone wants copies of the video they’re available from me for $5.95 (US) plus applicable taxes.

But enough about me talking about me.  Please feel free to e-mail me your comments about me! *grin*

Again we had a wonderful time and our group is continuing to grow.  Welcome to Derek, Eric and John.  We hope that last evening will be their first of many with the group.  We were happy to see Dr. Bob and Russell return from the denizens of Georgian Bay scarred but for the most part unharmed.  And big hugs and kisses to our "regulars" without whom these gatherings would not exist.

I know every once and a while I get a bit nostalgic when it comes to you guys but bear with me for a moment.  I am so proud to call each and every one of you a friend.  The sense of community, which we have fostered among ourselves, is something that I am extremely proud of and that others should be envious of.  To each and every one of you please be as proud of yourselves as I am of you.  Not because you’re gay; not because you’re fabulous; not because you’ve got an incredible fashion sense; not because you have a perfect outfit for every occasion; not because you’ve got a perfect body.  While all of these reasons apply to each and every one of you (except Danl, I have absolutely no idea where she gets her fashion sense!) *grin* you should be proud of yourselves for having each other.  We are very lucky and believe me when I say there are a lot of unlucky people out there.  Let’s hope that someday they can have what we have.  You are all very important people in my life and in each other’s.  I hope that our network will continue to grow and that we will continue to be an example of friendship and fun to the gay community as a whole.

"Look, tears sweetie, tears.  Mommy’s crying sweetie!.  What about mommy?! … Oh buggery, bloody, bollocks!!" – Jennifer Saunders as Edwina in Absolutely Fabulous

Big hugs and cyber-kisses to everyone out there in space.
