The Road Back
The battle begins, one day at
a time
I fight for a life, that used to be mine
A disease grips my body
Takes the flesh and the bone
And I'll never recover...if I fight it alone
It's deep in my spirit
and has taken hold of my mind
It gives me no warning
When it strikes from behind.
I thought I had lost, there
was almost no doubt
In my last feeble gesture, I finally cried out.
God...Heard the faint cry, of
my almost dead soul
He answered..."Only you, can climb out of that hole."
You reach out for help, and
start over each day
and become part of a fellowship that we call A.A.
They all share together, and fight as a team. That's how they achieve the impossible dream.
First Step, admitting you're
in shambles, a mess
And you can't possibly fight, when you're powerless
The caring of souls is our
greatest defense,
The disease can't hold when the power's intense
One Day At A Time, A.A. keeps
it on track
and we walk the road
THAT BRINGS US BACK
