The following are a few pictures from my sojourn to Zuni Mountain Sanctuary in August of 1997.
I spent 3 and a half days there and consider them to be among the greatest of my life. To read more about my experience, check out the page dedicated to My Visit to Zuni.
Just a taste of the atmospheric beauty in Zuni land! This was taken West of Ramah, NM on the way up to Gallup.
Another shot from the road. Part of the wonder of visiting the sanctuary was the journey itself. I was late by about 4 hours (got lost!) but that was part of the adventure. When I got there I was happy to be there.
This is the best proof of why a trip to Zuni sanctuary is unlike a visit to any other. The beauty of a New Mexico sunset. I wish that these monitors had the ability to give you the goddess-given clarity of the real thing!
This is the main building at Zuni. The sanctuary was dedicated on Summer Solstice, June of 1996. So, this is a years work on and with the land. This is the heart of the sanctuary. A beautiful structure made of adobe bricks and wooden vigas. There are a few more sections to be built (they're building it in sections) and then a final circular building with a tower. The community is happy to have people come and volunteer their time and energy in this collective space.
