Clinton calls her comedy "an adventure," which could also be a pretty accurate description of her life. More than a decade ago, she left her job as an English teacher in upstate New York to take her budding stand-up routine on the road. Then her material mostly mined personal subjects: her Catholicism and lesbianism, relationships and politics. Her material, she says, evolved as she became "confident enough and free enough to let it all out." Now her shows use more free association and audience participation. And she's focusing on topical and political issues that have broadened her appeal. For Clinton, the political is personal -- and ripe for her comedic punditry.
