History of the Pink Triangle
Pink Triangle
Prisoners of the Nazi war camps were
given a triangle, color coded to their
offense or origin: yellow for Jews, brown
for gypsies, black for anti-socials, green
for criminals, and pink for homosexuals.
Pink triangles were larger than the other
triangles so that the "scum of the scum"
could be easily recognized. Jews, gypsies
and homosexuals were given the worst
treatment of those at the camps. Today,
the pink triangle has been reclaimed as a
symbol of pride.
