Jazz Colorations . . .
Jazz Colorations . . .
Somber stains of pale blue
Drift like swirls of cigarette smoke.
A velvet green thread stretches
Arch-bow tight!
Blinking blobs of brilliant orange
Red
Yellow
Dance far in the dusky night.
Like dancers they whirl and plunge;
Race forward for an encore;
Retreat to harmonize once more.
Entwined lies a bold black line
Its purpose lost in the attempt.
A road from point to point?
A climax? Separation?
Bold, yet cold it lies amidst the
Changing
hues
of
brightness.
With a heavy, dry brush
The surface glass that views the world
Is crisscrossed;
Violet,
pale pink,
flame,
dust brown.
A pattern that must be ignored.
A door that only speaks lightly of
What lies beyond, wet, willing --
Pure joy, a living, growing rhapsody.
It swells an pours out for those
Who open
the door
and venture forth.
