BAMACT's Mission Statement
Our Mission
Tampa Bay's BAMACT ("Bay Area Men of All Colors Together") is a gay multi-racial, multi-cultural social organization that was established in 1989.
We offer educational, political, cultural, social activities and more as a means of dealing with racism, sexism, homophobia, and other inequalities in our community and in our life!
Who Are We?
We are as varied as our society. Members come in all political orientations, sexual interests, cultures, and professions. What we have in common is a desire to meet, communicate, and learn from each other. With this in mind, it is expected that members will contribute their best efforts to the group.
Our members, both singles and couples, represent different colors, ages, backgrounds, and attitudes. We appeal to people who are interested in interacting with and understanding men of another race, but a person does not have to be interested in someone of another race to become part of BAMACT. The people in our organization share a common interest. That interest is: "Man was created equal. Why not learn to live together?"
We are a SAFE place and an OPPORTUNITY:
- To receive support and affirmation for multi-racial relationships and friendships.
- To develop and define multi-cultural relationships.
- To talk and learn about racism, sexism and homophobia and their impact on our lives.
- To actively engage in political activities and effectively bring about social change.
- To learn more about our own culture and history.
- To learn more about other cultures and histories.
- To affirm our sexuality.
- To discover and become a part of a "family" and community that extends across the country.
- To join and involve yourself in the local chapter and/or become a National Member.
- To build new friendships that may last a lifetime.
