HALLOWE'EN

Now, Hallowe'en comes rolling round.
This time every year,
And for people in the closet,
This, they like to hear.

This is the only time of year,
That you can please yourself,
By dressing as a wizard,
Or maybe just an elf.

For me who is transgendered,
Who'd like to be a girl,
I always think," This is the year,
I'll give it a whirl."

I check my trusty calendar,
And then my bank account.
I figure that before too long,
I'll have the right amount.

And, to the thrift shop I will go,
My money in my hand.
I think of all the clothes I'll buy,
And it will be just grand.

And so, the date, it rolls around,
And I have got the loot,
Enough to buy a blouse and skirt,
A dress and then, a suit.

I'll also buy some underwear,
Some panties, maybe hose,
Some makeup for my eyelashes,
Some powder for my nose.

I shop and shop and shop and shop,
And then I shop some more,
With arms full of goodies,
I stagger in the door.

Now Hallowe'en is almost here,
And now I must decide,
Which of my goodies I will wear,
When I no longer hide.

A blouse, a suit, a skirt, a dress?
What is a girl to do,
This Hallowe'en is special,
It is her grand debut.

A cocktail dress, so elegant,
Is what I now decide,
And I will look so très en femme,
As in my car I ride.

Off to a swinging party,
In dress and hose and heels.
And I am so excited,
I wonder how it feels.

And now the moment has arrived,
And I am now en femme,
I'm ready now to walk right out,
And I don't give a damn.

My hand is on the door knob,
I take a breath and then,
Would you believe that Janey,
Has chickened out again?

Now, Hallowe'en comes rolling round,
The same time every year,
And for people in the closet,
That's what they like to hear.

For me who is transgendered,
Who'd like to be a girl,
I always think," NEXT year's the year,
I'll give it a whirl."
