Love's Reward

Somewhere in the night,
I cry myself to sleep.
Put my face into my pillow,
and silently I weep.

How do I make the changes,
to right this big mistake.
To match the outside with the inside,
for my sanity's sake.

Why can't I know the joys,
of Love's Reward.
Walking hand in hand,
on sands of a distant shore.

I hear a new voice calling,
it calls out my name.
To face the challenge before me,
and rise above the pain.

I must walk the path before me,
to find my sacred place.
Draw upon my inner strength,
with dignity and grace.

Behold a new day, for I have come.
Delivered unto glory.
Reborn in heart, bathed in light.
I have seen Love's Reward.

My Sister of the North

She walks in my soul, my sister of the North.
Where the windmaker dwells and brings the snow forth.
Deep inside the rose crystal, a small ember glows.
I see my sister, waiting to grow.

She knows my heart, I know her mind.
For a thousand years, we are of the kind.
The gentle ones, ancient...supreme.
We go unnoticed, we go unseen.

Our flesh is of the earth, to mold as clay.
We are the shapeshifters, of the beauty way.
So strong is the will, so strong is the yearning.
To fulfill this dream and complete the journey.

To become the creature of glory we cry,
Escape this shell! Lest we all die.
Remove these bindings society ties,
within these bindings the truth lies.

I am the guardian, of the western gate.
When the owl calls your name, you will know your fate.
The laws of time, we all must abide.
By me they must pass, to the other side.

She walks in my soul, my sister of the North.
Where the windmaker dwells and brings the snow forth.
Where our paths cross, is a sacred place,
of soft winds and a warm embrace.

For Lorna, my sister of the north.-1997
