Why Transsexual and not Transgendered
Well a couple of reasons actually...
Transgenderist is a term coined by Virginia Price to refer to someone who desires
to take on the role of the opposite sex, without desiring to have any body
modifications. That is not my situation, so I don't choose the term...
My gender has never been a source of my confusion. Nor is it something that I can change.
It is my physical sex, which differs from the structure of my brain,
that has caused the confusion. It is my physical sex that
is in transition, not my gender.
I feel it is improper to use a single classification as an umbrella term for
everyone. It's too simplistic. It's the same as calling everyone
Jewish, or black.
We are not all transgendered.
These are my terms, and my definitions. They apply to me.
I don't seek to tell others how to define themselves; only
how I wish to be defined.
