The Wedding

It was a warm night in early August. Jo and Jay decided to spend the early part of the evening at one of the open air cafes. When they arrived they took a table under a palm tree.

After ordering a carafe of white wine, Jo sat very quietly looking at Jay. "Your quiet tonight sweetheart, a penny for your thoughts." Said Jay.

"Well Hon, since you asked me to marry you back in June, we haven't brought up the subject of when." Replied Jo seriously.

"Jo, I did not want to bring up the subject until you were ready. I didn’t want you to think I was rushing you." Said Jay.

"Rushing me, Hell no Jay, I love you to much to let you rush me. Darn it I'd marry you tomorrow if I could. But I want a full church wedding. The works. Heck a girl only does this once, and for a former guy almost n ever. Jo said with a giggle.

"Well, we could set a date if you want." Jay took out his pocket calendar.

"How about the Sunday after New Years." Everyone I want to have in my bridal party will be free and it is far enough ahead to plan it right." Said Jo.

"Done. That's good with me. I won't set any court dates for that time frame." Said Jay.

Jo leaned over and kissed Jay. "Thank you dear. I am quite happy now."

Jay could not help but think of how much a woman his former buddy had become. He was silently amazed that she gave no thought to anything except becoming a bride, His bride. Jay smiled at Jo and returned the kiss, tenderly but obvious  to Jo sincere.

Jo was extremely happy. She was to become a bride in just five months. She had to make plans. I need help with this Jo thought. Big time. Being a woman was one thing, but being a bride...wow . Jo felt the excitement building within her. Who to call, who to call....

Jay asked her what she wanted to eat. That brought her back to reality.

"It is strange Jo." Said Jay. "What is dear". Replied Jo.

"Well there was a time when I was going to ask you, when I got married, t o be my best man. I never figured that you would be by bride."

"Ditto Jay. You were going to be mine remember? Life sure is stranger than fiction. At least in our case." Said Jo.

When Jo got back home that evening she called Tammy and Norma and formally asked them if they would both be her Maids of Honor jointly. They readily agree and  were overjoyed for Jo's sake. She told them that a date for the wedding had been set and asked if it was good with them. It was. And the women agreed to meet Jo on December 1st to go  shopping for a wedding gown and gowns for the bridal party.

Jo called her mother the next day. She knew that she could put it off no  longer. Jo's mother lived in Reno and he knew that he would have to go and see he r. If all went well, she wanted her mother to be at the wedding. Jo's mother, Janet was fifty two years old. When Jo's dad passed away, Ja net Bates had worked two jobs in order to provide herself and Joe a decent home. She worked as a Nurse's aid during the day and had a part time job as a waitress in one of the casinos. The two jobs allowed her to make a respectable income. Joe being old enough at the time was home alone quite a bit. But it never was a problem as Joe spent a lot of time studying. When Joe went on to college, Janet Bates was able to go back to school herself and final became a registered nurse. Janet became the Head Nurse at Reno Valley Hospital.

Joe made arrangements to meet his mother on her day off which was the fol lowing Sunday. When she talked to her mother, all she told her was that their had been a n industrial accident and that she had some major but not life threatening injuries. Janet pressed Jo for more information but Jo insisted that she would see for herself when they met. Janet had asked what was wrong with his voice and Jo had said that that w as part of the problem.

Jo left Phoenix for the trip to Reno on Saturday evening. He planned to arrive at Janet's home early Sunday morning. Jo knew that it would take most of the day to explain everything to her mother. Jo pulled into the parking lot of the apartment complex where Janet lived . She sat in the car for a few minutes to work up the courage to meet her m other. To Jo, this was probably the hardest thing he had to do since becoming a  girl. Jo felt strange. She now understood how Tammy felt when she had to confront her family. Well, thought Jo, I might as well do it before I get cold feet.

Jo got out of the car and entered the from door of the complex. A security guard was on duty at the main desk. "May I help you miss?" asked the guard. "Yes please . I am here to see Janet Bates. She is expecting me. Replied  Jo. "And your name please?" asked the guard. "Jo Bates." Replied Jo. The guard picked up the phone and dialed a number. "There is a Jo Bates here to see you Ma'am?" said the guard.

The guard hung up. "Go right up Ma'am. The elevators are down the hall t o the left. Take it to the 8th floor, as you get off, the apartment is to the right.  Number 804." He said with a smile. "Thank you." Replied Jo. "Your welcome. Have a nice visit." He replied.

Jo saw a ladies room in the lobby marked "for visitors only" and she decided to go in and check her appearance. Jo entered the ladies room and felt the nee d to pee. It was her nerves. Jo could feel her heart pounding. She left the stall and stood in front of the mirror. Taking her small tra vel kit out of her purse, she brushed her hair into place, touched up her lipstick and being satisfied looked at herself closely. Jo had worn the pink sleeveless dress, her white pantyhose, and the low h eel pumps that matched the dress. She wore a small gold rope chain with a ruby pendent a round her neck. Jo smoothed out her dress and satisfied that she looked presentable, she  left the ladies room and headed for the elevator.

Jo stood outside Apartment 804 for a moment then rang the bell. When the door opened, Janet Bates looked at the woman standing outside an d simply said "Yes, can I help you?" Jo looked at her mom for a moment. Janet was a lovely looking woman for her fifty two years. She had obviously kept herself in shape. She wore a pretty light blue nylon nightgown and a dark er blue terry bathrobe. She obviously did not expect visitors this soon. When the guard called that her son was downstairs, she apparently did not feel the need  to get dressed first.

"Hi mom, It's me Joe." Said Jo cheerfully.

Janet Looked at the pretty young woman standing in front of her in a pink dress. She looked at Jo for a long moment. She then recognized Jo. Janet's legs went limp and she almost fell to the floor. Jo had reached out and caught her by the arms. Jo helped her back inside the apartment and onto the sofa.

"Janet pulled herself together and then looked Jo up and down for a full minute. "I know you said there was an accident, but is this some kin d of joke Joe?" she asked.

Jo sat down next to her mother. "Mom I want you to read something before I explain it all. Jo handed the documents from Dr. Krell that explained the accident and it's effects on the victims.

Janet read the entire letter. When she finished she said nothing at first but just sat and looked at Jo for a long time. Finally she asked. "Do you want some coffee?" "Please." Said Jo. "Lets go into the kitchen and talk." Janet said.

Janet made coffee and after pouring two large cups she sat down at the kitchen table opposite Jo and said "Tell me all about it Joe."

Jo spent the next two hours telling her mother what had happened. What it had done to him physically and mentally. She told her about the other guys that had the same problem. Jo told her mother everything except about the wedding.

Janet listened to Jo intently. She asked a few questions but for the most part she let Jo tell the story.

Jo looked at her mother and said: "That's about it Mom. There is one other thing I have to tell you but that can wait for a little while." Jo wanted to his mother to get completely accustomed to the fact that her son was now her daughter. Jo knew that the questions would start in earnest i n a few minutes. Telling Janet about the wedding could wait. Jo tried to read his mothers  face but could not tell what she was thinking.

"Joe, I listened to everything you said but I can't believe it. How the h ell can a full grown man turn it a woman completely? This is crazy.

"Mom, I know it is hard to believe but think of how I felt to go to bed a physically fit man, engaged to a lovely lady and wake up a girl prettier than my fiancée . I damned near went crazy. I got through the first few days only with Jay and Linda's help."

"Joe are you really a woman? Really?"

"Well I guess the only way is to prove it to you."

Jo took her Mom into the bedroom. She removed her dress and stood in front of her in only her bra and slip  and panties.

Janet looked at Jo and then stared at her breasts.

"Those breasts sure look real enough Joe."

Jo undressed in front of her mother. Jo had not done that since she was a little child. Jo knew that he had to prove it all to her. Removing her panties she said to Janet: "Mother, your a nurse and a woman. Take a look here between my legs and see for yourself." Janet came forward and gentle examined her daughter. "My God, it is true. You are a woman." "It's true Mother. And he also showed her the red birthmark that had always been on the side of her left knee. When Janet saw that she knew that this lovely creature was truly her ex-son. Janet reached out and embraced Jo. "Oh my, Oh my..." was all she could say. Both women started to cry.

After a long embraced, Janet pulled herself together and said to Jo smiling widely: "Well I don't think my daughter should be sitting around like that all day."

Jo felt relieved. Her mother had apparently accepted the fact that she no w had a daughter. Wait until I tell her that I am pregnant and getting married. Jo thought. Jo knew she was pregnant. She had done the self test and it had come up positive. Jo was due to see an obstetrician the following week to verify her suspicions.

Jo got dressed and went into the kitchen. Janet came out of the bathroom  and told Jo to make some more coffee while she got dressed.

When Janet came out of the bedroom she had put on a pretty white blouse and a long desert floral skirt. "Jo lets have some coffee and then go to the  mall. I want to buy my DAUGHTER something nice to take home with her."

Jo felt a warm fuzzy feeling come over her. She felt content and somehow  a lot closer to her mother than ever before. Janet obviously was feeling the same thing. She  seemed very happy with the news. "Mom I am pregnant and getting married to Jay in January." Jo blurted out . She had not intended to tell Janet this way but she just could not help herself.

Janet was in the process of getting some cream from the refrigerator when Jo made the announcement. Janet dropped the creamer on the floor. She turned to Jo and Jo immediately went to her. Janet hugged Jo tightly and she started to cry in earnest. Jo knew that her mother had really become overwhelmed by  it all.

After a few minutes Janet calmed down. She looked into Jo's eyes and knew it was true. "Damned. First I find out my son has turned into a girl. Then I find out  she is pregnant and getting married. What a day. Jo, Lets get out of here and go shopping. I need some air." Janet said.

"Good idea Mother. We need to spend some time together and work this out. " Said Jo.

Janet and Jo left the building. As they walked to Jo's car Janet looked a t her new daughter. The bright sun shone off the highlights of her sandy bl onde hair as well as her dress. "Jo. You really are beautiful. No wonder jay didn't waste any time asking you to be his wife" Said Janet. "I know Mother. But I wasn't going to let him get away either. It is strange how fast these female hormones took over." Said Jo. "Take it from me young lady, female hormones are the most powerful in the world." Replied Janet. The two women laughed at that comment.

They spent the rest of the day shopping at the largest mall in Reno.

Jo left Reno the next morning. Janet had promised to meet Jo the following Saturday in at her place in Phoenix. Janet was going to take a weeks vacation and spend it with Jo. Jo was ecstatic at this outcome. She returned home happier than ever.

The months passed slowly.

In September Jo and Jay purchased a home in an exclusive area of Phoenix. They redecorated the new house to fit their needs and when finished it wa s delightful. Jay agreed to let Jo move in as soon as it was done but would not move in himself until after the wedding.

Jo and Jay went together to have the mandatory blood tests done and when  they received the results, they went to St. Marks Catholic Church to see the pastor. Arraignments were made for the church wedding. It was scheduled for Sunday afternoon January 8 . Jo and Jay were required to attend the mandatory pre-marital  classes. Jay was a Catholic and had asked Jo if she would agree to a Catholic Church wedding. Jo, had been raised an Agnostic and had never been baptized. She loved J ay deeply and would do anything for him including learning to believe in  what he believed. She readily agreed. Father Downs, the Pastor at St. Mark's advised Jo on as to the necessary steps she would have to take in becoming a Catholic so that the wedding could be held at the church alter. Jo agreed. Father Downs then baptized Jo into the faith on the spot. Jay acted as he r sponsor. He gave her the church catechism and told her to study it. He would make  arrangements to finalize the process of confirmation prior to the wedding.

True to their promise, Tammy Becky and Mary along with Jo spent the weekend before Thanksgiving with Mr. And Mrs. Werner. Jo asked the three girls if they  would be in her bridal party and they were ecstatic. It was during Thanksgiving that with mostly Becky's help the decisions were made as to what the bridesmaids would wear. Becky also advised Jo as to what compliments to have at the alter and reception.

Jo and Jay spent Thanksgiving with Janet in Reno. It was the best Thanks giving she could recall. Janet was going to come to Phoenix for Christmas and stay with Jo until after the wedding. Janet wanted to be close to her daughter during this wonderful event. Jo felt closer to her mother than ever before. A bond between Mother and  Daughter was developing between them that could not have occurred had he remained  a man. Janet was going to give her daughter to Jay at the wedding.

On December first, the bridal party met at the Hearts Love Bridal Boutique in Phoenix. The Bridal party consisted of Jo-Ellen, Tammy and Norma as Co-Maids of Honor. Brides Maids were going to be, Karen, Becky, Jane, Michelle, Mary and Louise (Dave). Jo supervised the picking of the gowns and after spending all day they finally finished up. The gowns had been tried on and the alterations would be made. No one except Tammy and Norma saw the Wedding gown that Jo had selected. Everyone agreed to return the following Saturday for a final fitting. The shop manager promised that the gowns would be finished and could be taken home that same day.

When Jo got home that afternoon there was a message on her answering machine from Jay. Jo replayed the message. "Hi sweetheart. I stopped my the church today to give Father Downs the fees for the use of the church for the wedding. He said that he would like to schedule you r catechism examination for this evening. I will pick you up at six thirty. Love you."

Jay arrived right on time. Jo had just barely had time to take a shower  and get ready. Jay came through the door and handed Jo a bouquet of roses. "For a lovely lady." He said giving Joe a tender kiss. "Why thank you kind Sir." Jo said. "Are you ready to go down to the church?" asked Jay. "Sure. Lets go. Jo picked up her small purse and accompanied Jay to St. M ark's

After being asked all the appropriate questions and showing her knowledge of the required church teachings, Father Downs told Jo that he would make special arrangements for Jo to be confirmed by the bishop at the Mass the Sunday  before Christmas. Jo and Jay agreed that that would be fine.

On the appropriate day, Jo, wearing a simple white dress and lace cover o n her head and kneeling at the alter rail, was confirmed into the catholic  faith. Jo really felt good as she left the church. She thought, "Maybe this is how little girls felt after their First Communion. The next time I wear white in this church, it will be as a bride." Jo was feeling wonderful.

Jay gave Jo a present. He was taking her on a cruise of the Caribbean as her confirmation present and that she could decide when to take it.

Jo woke early that Sunday. As the mild January sun streamed in her bedroom window she came slowly awake. Then she remembered it was her wedding day. Jo felt the butterflies in her stomach start to do their work. Jo had hardly had time to think her nervousness when Janet came sweeping  into the room. "Rise and Shine sleepy head. This is your big day dear. Lots to do." Jo looked at her mother and was struck with the thought of how happy she seemed. She must have been up half the night.

Jo got out of bed and went into the bathroom. After relieving her body's  needs she filled the tub with warm water and added the bath beads. Laying in the tub enjoying the warm soft water and aroma of the jasmine s cent that wafted up into her nostrils, Jo let her mind go over the events of t he past nine months. She thought of the early days as a woman and compared them to the present. The more she thought of the enormity of it all, the more she was sure that she had done everything right. She was quite satisfied with herself. She ran her hand down over her slightly swollen belly. She had been told  by her doctor that she was going to have twin girls in April. When she told Jay  about her condition, He was overjoyed. Jo could not imagine Jay, the straight forward lawyer becoming like a little boy. He would not let Jo do anything for two days . Not until Jo pointed out that she was not completely helpless. Even so Jay was constantly there. He had been a big help getting her move d into the new house. She smiled at the thought. He was going to be her husband now and Jo was pleased at that thought. She smiled when she remembered telling Jay that she would not consider getting pregnant and having a baby. Now she was going to have two. Jay had told her that she would change her mind. He had been so right.

Jo came out of her daydreams as Janet called to her. "Jo, are you going to come out of there so I can fix your hair?" You do have to be at the church at one o'clock and it is already seven thirty and don't bother getting any clothes on yet. Just wrap yourself in a towel." "Ok Mother. I'll be right there." Jo stepped out of the tub and wrapped herself large bath towel.

Jo went out into the bedroom and Janet was already set up to do her hair. Jo's hair had grown out quite a bit in the last nine months and Janet was satisfied that she could give her daughter a nice coiffeur. It took nearly two hours but in the end Jo had her hair done in a pretty style that came down to the base of her neck in gentle curls and the ends turned inward towards her neck. "Jo I think that will be quite delightful once you have your veil on. What do you think." Asked Janet. "Mother that is the nicest my hair has been since my change. It is pretty. I like it." Replied Jo. "Thank you dear." Said Janet giving Jo a kiss in the cheek. "Now lets get you dressed." At that moment the doorbell rang. Janet went to answer it. Jo heard some voices and Tammy and Norma came bursting into the bedroom. Gowns in hand.

"Hello Mrs. Logan." Said Norma and Tammy in unison and with glee. "Hi Guys. Rushing it a little aren't we?" Jo quipped back.

"Only Kidding, only kidding" said Norma.

Janet came back into the room.

"OK ladies, Lets get with it. We have a lot to do to get all three of you ready." Janet was all business now. She had three women and herself to get ready  for a wedding and she was determined that she was going to get it done right and be on time .

At twelve o'clock the Limo pulled up in front of the house. And ten minutes later the bride, maids of honor and the bride's mother go t into the Limo for the ride to St. Marks.

Jay was already at the church but had been corralled into a room behind t he alter by his brother George who was to be his best man. Four of his law partners were serving as his ushers and they were busy seating the families and guests.

Most of Jo's family had been told about Joe's change of sex by Janet during the previous four months and the reason behind it. Surprisingly everyone in h is family although surprised that such a thing could happen, was totally supportive . Everyone in his small family had come to the wedding.

The church organist was softly playing a prelude as Jo and her party came into the church. There was a small room off the main entrance to the church and Jo and the bridal party was ushered into this area upon arrival. Jo's uncle Stephen had readily agree d to represent Jo's deceased father and would jointly, with Janet, give the bride away.

Jo was totally spaced out. She was carried away with the momentum of the  occasion and even if she had wanted to back out at this late moment she would not  have been able to do so. Tammy and Norma checked Jo's appearance and making a few minor  adjustments were satisfied that all was in order. Jo's mother had since taken her place in the church.

As the prelude started the girls got lined up at the door to main church. Jay and the Best man were at the front of the church with Priest. The wedding march started and everyone rose to their feet and turned to see the Bridal Party start their way down the main aisle.

The first to be seen was the Bride's maids. They wore Orchid tea length  gowns of satin with a sheer overlay. Each girl carried a bouquet of white and  orchid carnations. Each had a crown of matching carnations on their heads. Michelle and Karen led the way followed by Louise and Mary. Next came the Maids of Honor, Norma and Tammy. They wore similar gowns to the brides maids but their gowns were floor length and were peach color. They carried bouquets of white and pink carnations interlaced with white Lilly of the Valley.

Then came the Bride. Jo was stunning. When Jay saw her enter the church h e burst into the biggest smile he had ever had. He was dazzled by the beauty of his former buddy and now to be bride.

Jo wore a white gown of dazzling satin. The Bodice was embroidered delicately in off white and covered tastefully with sequins. Her train was delicate  lace and cascaded off he shoulders and down the back and onto the floor. Her veil was delicately embroidered so as not to totally hide her face. She walked slowly down the aisle. Radiant in her moment of happiness.

The Bride was given away and Jay taking Jo by the hand followed the pries t to the alter rail where they were given communion. The couple remained kneeling at the alter while the priest invited all in the wedding party and the families of the couple who wished to receive the Ho st bid come forward.

When the Communion completed, the couple were signaled by the priest to stand. On the Alter was the Wedding candles One large one with a smaller one to  each side.

The priest gave Jay a lighted taper and together each in turn lit one of  the small candles.

"The priest looked at the congregation and inquired: "If there is anyone present who knows any reason why these two should not be joined together in Holy Matrimony let them speak now or forever hold their peace." There was no reply.

The priest then looked at Jay. "Do you Jay, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? Promising to love her and keep her, for richer or poorer in sickness and in health forsaking all others for as long as you both s hall live?

"I do." said Jay.

Turning to Jo the priest said: "Do you Jo-Ellen take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? Promising to love, honor and obey him. For richer or poorer, in sickness and in health forsaking all others and being faithful to him only as long as you both s hall live?"

Jo felt her legs get weak. Jay sensed this and held her hand with a little stronger grip. Jo squeezed Jay’s hand. " I do." Said Jo.

The priest looked at the best man. "Do have the rings?" he asked The priest took the rings and blessed them and handed the smaller to Jay. "Place the ring on her finger and say, With this ring I thee wed."

Jay put the small intricate gold ring on Jo's left ring finger. "With this ring I thee wed." Said Jay with a smile looking into Jo's eyes . The priest turned to Jo and handed her the larger ring and gave the same  instruction.

"With this ring I thee wed." Said Jo.

The priest took a taper from the alter and lit it from the alter candle. Handing it to the couple Jo and Jay both holding the taper lit the large  middle candle between the two smaller ones.

The couple kneeled in front of the priest who blessed them and then motioned them to rise.

"In so much as Jo-Ellen and Jay have pledge their vows to each other and  have by the exchanging of rings have signified this act. I, Father Downs, By the power invested in me by the Holy Roman Catholic Church and the State of Arizona declare Jay and Jo-Ellen to be Man and Wife and those whom God has joined together let no man put asunder."

"You may kiss the Bride." Said the priest.

"Jay raised Jo's Veil and looked into the smiling face of his bride and J o looked into the face of her Husband. The Kiss was tender and sincere. Jo almost swoon ed. "Ladies and Gentlemen", said the priest. May I present Mr. And Mrs. Jay  Logan. Jay and Jo hand in hand turned and faced the congregation who were now standing. All present applauded as the couple stood for a moment and then walked do wn the aisle to the sounds of the recessional.

When the time came for Jo to deliver her babies, they were healthy, normal twin girls. They were named Norma Jo and Tammy Jay. It was done. Joe Bates Jo-Ellen Nolan had fulfilled her destiny. Married, Mother, Successful, Happy.

Epilogue :

Eighteen months have now passed since the original transformations occurred.

It was agreed to by Norma and Dr. Krell that the good doctor would be all owed to use the cage for the transformation of the candidates for reassignment who had completed their year living as females and were preparing for permanent transgender surgery. The use of the cage on these candidates was a lot better, quicker, and more complete than surgery, not to mention a lot less expensive. Dr. Krell would then shut down the cage for a period of time to allow Jan e (Jim's new name) to refine the cage so that it could be reproduced and manufactured for use elsewhere on a franchise basis. This turned out to be quite successful.

Jo has completely adapted to her new role as a woman and is very happy with what has happened. Very seldom does she even think of the old Joe. She became very successful as a corporate executive. Jo with Phil's help did develop a new portable version of the cage and these portable versions were eventually used successfully by Dr. Krell at his new clinics. Jo became the mother of twin girls. Needless to say, She and Jay are hap py and contented.

Tammy is continuing her education while working at Honeybone on a tuition re-imbursement program. She also completed, along with Mary, with Jo's help, her Multi-engine pilot's rating. Her meeting with her father had gone well. Of course her father was a little sad at loosing a son but the gaining of a beautiful daughter was in his view well worth it and of course her mother was overjoyed. Tammy met a handsome student at the  university and are they are planning to be married after they both graduate.

Mary, after getting her pilot's rating from the FAA, moved on to Minneapolis and became Norma's chief pilot and Head of Corporate Security. Mary is the only Honeybone pilot that is allowed to fly any aircraft that Norma is flying in. Of course Norma and Mary come to Phoenix a lot. Mainly to visit with their friends and to attend "Club" meetings.

Norma when she returned to Minneapolis was met with some opposition from  the Board of Directors but when it was pointed out to them that she now held controlling interest in the company, all opposition to her as President and Chairman of the company came to an immediate halt. Honeybone became a leader in the campaign against any form of gender discrimination. She soon became president of the National Institute of Women in Business.

Michelle left Honeybone and went back to school. She is now enrolled in t he Sociology program a Arizona State University. She is engaged to a physician that she met thru an introduction by Karen. Michelle is planning on working in the field of Transgender Counseling.

Jane stayed on at Honeybone at Norma's request with a substantial increase in salary. She is now the General manager of Research and Development of Special Projects.

Dave changed her name to Louise in honor of her mother. She and Cindy did get a legal divorce only because Arizona would not recognize same sex marriages. Cindy and Louise are still living together quite happily and their two children love having two 'mothers'. Louise has now brought suit against the State of Arizona for discriminatory practices in denying same sex marriages. The suit became a class action and is scheduled for an Arizona Supreme Court hearing soon. Of course if they prevail, Louise and Cindy will remarry.

Linda met and finally married a friend of Jay's that she met and dated at Jo and Jay's recommendation. Jo was the Maid of Honor and Jay was Best man at the wedding. The two couples have since purchased homes next door to each other. Linda and her husband Frank are also expecting a baby girl soon.

Dr. Krell put several more people thru the cage in the last year. In one case, three young boys were put through together. Dr. Krell could  not deny the mothers' pleas for help. The heartwarming story of Shawnlea and  her friends will be told later.
