On December 31, 1998, Dee and I were married in a Commitment Ceremony at Cupid's Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a beautiful ceremony. Why a chapel? Why Las Vegas? Let me explain.
Dee and I met on IRC almost two years ago. We hit it off very well, and soon were dating. She proposed to me last year, and we decided to get married on New Year's Eve. We had planned to be married in our hometown, but couldn't find a place that would be suitable for our desires. I wanted to get married outside, but where were we going to find a place warm enough and pretty enough for a December wedding in New Mexico??
So, she came up with idea of Las Vegas. I hadn't been in a few years, and she'd only been once. Also, my best friend of 14 years lives in Las Vegas with her husband, so we decided to give it a shot!
I looked on the Internet for suitable places, and came up with a few wedding chapels. After more searching, I found Reverend Daphne of Eternal Hope Ministry in Las Vegas, who performed weddings, holy unions, and commitment ceremonies. We e-mailed her, and she told us she performed these ceremonies in conjunction with Cupid's Wedding Chapel, who happened to be the only gay friendly chapel in Vegas! We had seen their web page and were impressed with what they offered, as well as the pictures they had posted of other ceremonies and their participants. So we decided to give it a shot...
