Camelot
Here's to they who grew up a little too fast
Children not of this generation but the last
Not ready for this cruel world huge and vast
The boy-knights and girl-damsels of the past
To their lost realm, Camelot.
Those that work in their cubicles every day
That race from nine to five to make their pay
Over grown children that forgot how to play
This land that they forgot.
What they never see in their mind's eye
Over the golden clouds 'neath the bluest skies
A place sought by the simple, not the wise
A land further away than any bird can fly
Stand the ramparts of Camelot.
A land founded in dreams and desires
Where your mind escapes the daily mire
Where spells weaved can burn like the fire
That all of us once sought.
This is the land for all, dreamers and lovers
For the timid ones that hid under their covers
For those who never had Fathers only mothers
For those who were the sister between brothers
Yours is the land, Camelot.
This is your safe-haven in your time of need
When you wish you had a car or a fast steed
Those that try to escape the blows that bleed
Here is Sanctuary, Camelot.
Now has come the day I fear, the day I have dread
Once a wellspring now empty, as if I've been bled
Then my source of love and through it I was fed
But it can no longer feed a body, once it's dead.
Lies my corpse in Camelot.
She was ever the woman. I put my trust in her
The banners fade, walls fall, faith, I can't muster
The silver has tarnished; the gold lacks its luster
Gone is the dream that I once sought.
The walls and parapets have crumbled
The spires and towers have tumbled
One knight walked these ruins and he stumbled
Sitting on a block of stone, crying, he mumbled:
"What happened to Camelot?"
He sees a broken tower filled with brambles
Head in hands he weeps his only dream in shambles.
Wasting there an old man, who rocks and rambles
Crying: "Gone is the golden dream
Love now forgot.
Gone forever is Eternal Camelot."
