I first saw John on Samson's Longhair Commune on Excite, we exchanged some e-males, then I convinced John to try ICQ. John is very laid back and easy going and a very kind and sweet dude. John loves 80's rock music and motor sports. A few weeks prior to my trip to Europe, I decided to visit John and my two other friends Bill and Jim in New Jersey. John graciously offered to pick me up at Newark and to take me to my hotel. Of course, as Murphy's Law would have it, my plane was well over an half and a half leaving Tampa. Delta Express sent me a letter apologizing for the inconvenience, but they had robbed me of quality time to spend with my friend. But c'est la vie, it's all part of the traveling experience that I love so much. By the time I arrived in Newark, collected my luggage and we made it the the hotel in Whippany it was already starting to get late. This is when I would discover how backwards the state of New Jersey is. We had a very difficult time finding a restaurant that was open that also served alcohol. We finally ended up at Hollihan's and had to beg for them to prepare us some food. It seems that New Jersey is a state that likes silly regulations. It is illegal in the state of New Jersey for one to pump their own gas, so all gas stations are full service. After we ate, I wanted to get some beer to take back to the hotel, in Tampa, this would be no biggie, stop by a 7-11 or Circle K before 3 AM and buy some beer. Well, not in NJ, it seems that only package stores or bars can sell alcohol, including beer. We managed to find a bar that was just about closed and I went in and talked the bartender into selling me the only beer he had cold, Coors Light in cans. -- UGH But none the less, it was still a great trip because of the warmth and kindness of John and my other two friends. Most of you who have read the other pages of my site know that I love photography, I love to take pictures of places and things, and of course of the cute dudes I meet in my travels. I have to say that John has been one of my most cooperative subjects, ever! The pictures you see here were taken in my hotel room. I had my Olympus D-600L at the time, and that camera was somewhat uncooperative in low-light environments. So I improvised by taking the lamp shade off of the lamp and used it as a reflector to increase the light falling upon John. As you can see in this next shot, John is truly a sweetheart and has considerable tolerance for my sick and twisted sense of humor... My advice to you is this...If you are looking for a kind and sweet dude, send John an e-male, he's kewl!...If you are traveling to New Jersey, BYOB! |
