I had been chatting back and forth in e-male and on the phone with Steeve for a couple of months. During on chat, Steeve said, "You're an Aries, aren't you?", to which I answered, "Ah, yes...". Later we would discover that we were both born on the same month and day. We had other similarities as well, which I will not go into here to protect Steeve's anonymity. We were chatting online on New Years Eve Day, 1999 and discussing what each of us would be doing to bring in the new year. Well it was totally unexpected at the beginning of the dialog that we would be celebrating New Year's together. A little secret that I will share with you, airfares are very cheap for travel on a holiday because no one is traveling, they are already there. As a little side note regarding Y2K. In aviation terms, the year 2000 began at 0Z (Z is for Zulu or GMT), which was 7 PM Eastern Time. Steeve was bravely in the air on his way to Atlanta's Hartsfield airport at the time for the new year in the official world of aviation and weather. Well, Y2K things were greatly overrated in the fear department, and Steeve made it to Tampa so early, that by the time I got to the gate, he and all of the other passengers had deplaned, and had gone to baggage claim. I made a mad dash to baggage claim, being very irritated at myself for the fact that I would be making a bad first impression by not being at the gate as I said I would be. Steeve was all too cool about it all though, and was well. We made a mad dash to Metropolis and saw the new year in at my favorite night spot in Tampa. Apparently Y2K fever was running high, as the crowd at Metropolis was noticeably smaller than a typical Friday night. Steeve is a Yoga instructor, and I tell you, this Yogi is no bear! (LOL) It was very interesting to watch Steeve practice his Yoga by the pool at my apartment complex on a nice warm and sunny Florida winter day. I wish I had taken my camera with me there, but we had originally gone to the pool to lounge around in out bikinis and get some sun. Steeve also did some Yoga exercises on the floor of Metropolis just prior to closing, and it was surprising at how few gay men noticed that there was a cute dude bent over with his head between his ankles or doing a split. Rob and I noticed though! Intriguing! It was interesting for me to spend time with someone born on the the same month and day, who was similar to me in many ways as it allowed me to see just how annoying I really am... LOL Just kidding Steeve! Honest! On Sunday I took Steeve to Orlando so that he could spend some time with his family who was visiting there. I picked him back up on Tuesday night and brought him back to Tampa for his flight back home on Wednesday. Steeve truly is a great guy, despite being similar to me in some ways, God help him!
