on location - the Backstretch Diner set

 

 

 

 

On the set of "Dreamer" starring: Patrick Swayze, Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Shue. This is the "Backstretch Dinner" set in downtown Frankfort, KY. They removed all the street lights and installed this single telephone pole and street light in front of what is Marshall's Restaurant. The streets were loaded with equiment and crew. The scenes they filmed were actually shot INSIDE the restaurant on this particular day looking out the window. They were shooting background shots through the window of cars driving past and people walking up and down the street. They took out the street lamps on the street and replaced them with the single telephone pole visivble in front of the restaurant. The parking places and street lines were all repainted for perpendicular parking. There is a dark blue truck parked in front the restaurant with mud all over it. Some of the night scenes filmed here were during a "hollywood" rainstorm.
