Felina came to me because of fate. I was directing a play, Lettice and Lovage, which has a cat in the cast, and I decided, this would be a great time to get a pet. I began going to the animal shelter every week before rehearsals began, and narrowed it to two very unique cats. I made my choice, and it was not the cat you see above, here is the great part of the story...I cat I chose swatted at the other cat, and I told her she just lost the audition...no cat fights! LOL... So the beauty you see above was crowned officially, Felina, Queen of Sorrows. This was her name in the play...and I thought it was fun...and it fits!
Felina spent the next two months living in the theater. She had total rule of the roost so to speak. Her litter box was in the grreen room with her food and water. She was able to go anywhere in the theater. I wanted her to feel right at home..and she did. Every night whenwe had rehearsals, when it was time for Fellina, she would appear from under the bleachers for her role. Then it was arms and armas of people wanting to hold her....which she loved. She truly was saved a near death experience to go on to greater things. She was a star during the performances, and spent her time greeting all the fans in the lobby after the show. Did I mention, she never made a sound...she didn't know how to speak or Meow!
Boy have things changed. I was in bed one night...and Felina walked up to me slowly...looked at me and made this really strange sound. I thought she was going to throw up or something....then I relalized she was trying to meow. She had about 8 or 9 years to make up for...and she has been doing a great job at it. I think the cat on the front porch taught her to speak. They were always nose to nose in the window.
Here is a rare view of Felina playing....it was way beyond her to lay on theh floor and play. That takes energy and effort. Sometimes she forgets she is human and acts like a cat.
